Was your grandfather from Sciacca? If so, we may have some connection. I would need to know who his father was. I have done research on Di Paola's from Sciacca and can go back to the late 1600's. Let me know.

We are an Italian speaking, English family who have recently moved to live in Itri, which is very near to Formia.

We fell in love with the area when on holiday a few years ago, and have a passion for all (nearly all !!!) things Italian.

I am trying to do my family history. I need to find out info about my grand father Accursio DiPaola, he died around 1911-1915 in Manhattan (Five Points) New York. He was trying to stop a fight at a bar and got stabbed. He had about five children (Mary, Frances, Jean, John, and Joe). His wife Josephine (Italian name Pellegrina Marina). Lived on Mott Street. They are from Sicily. Was probably in his 40s when he died.

Our DiPaolas are in Brooklyn and LI. Descendants of Erasmo and Teresa DiPaola from Formia near Naples.

Hi, Jean: our DiPaola's were from Formia, very close to Naples. I've been translating marriage records from the 19th century for Formia and there were a LOT of DiPaolas. Do you have any names/dates from the 1800s that I can check for you?

Marc, I think we are related...my grandfather, albert, had a brother that didn't contact the family for years because his wife didn't like the family. My grandfather lives in Rosedale.

My family has a wholesale grocery business in Brooklyn Terminal Market...it was originally G. Nardella and Sons, but it is now owned by my grandfather, albert dipaola,....he wed marie indreri (I am not sure I am spelling that right)...my great grandfather was Charles DiPaola and my Great Grandmother was Virginia (nee Nardella) DiPaola and the family is orginially from Formia. Most of us live in the NYC/Long Island/Queens area....any relation do you think. The name Erasmu sounds very farmiliar. I think that may have been one of my great grandfather's brothers.

My family was from Formia...DiPaola and Nardella. My grandfather was Marco DiPaola and his brother was named Ralph. My second cousin (Ralph and Marco's niece) has just finished a family tree. Wonder if we're related.

Great-grandfather came from the Naples area, I would guess around 1895 or so. His name was Vincent, grandfather was Benjamin, and my father was James (1923 - 1962). That is all I have I am determined to follow the trunk of the tree and fill in the branches.

Hello, everybody.My name is Gabriela DiPaola. I just stumbled onto this by accident. It's fascinating to me because there are so many people by the name DiPaola that I don't know. We are a fragmented bunch. My grandparents (now deceased) came over from Borgetto (sp?), Sicily at the turn of the century. Well just was surfing and found this site, it is so good to see there are other people with the last name DiPaola, I now am married and no longer have that last name but growing up I thought we were the only DiPaola family around.
My father Carmelo DiPaola came to this country when he was 18 in 1950 with his brother Angelo, they were from Catania Sicaly, my father always wonders if his half brother who did not come with them is still alive his name is Gaetano DiPaola.

I am looking for information on my DiPaola ancestors. My great-grandfather's name was Joseph. He married Charlene Profeta. He came here from Italy around 1910. His parents were Michael and Grace (DiCharia). I don't have any other info on Michael. Grace's father's name was James DiCharia.

My Beatrice was also married in Brooklyn, but a different spouse. I doubt she was maried previously, because I think you mentioned she had several children. I wonder if they are related though? My Beatrice's father was Vincenzo Lauria, her mother was Concetta Ferlisa. Do you find any of those names in your list? I don't have any dates on them.
