I am so puzzled. I can go all the way back to the 1500's and 1600's with my side of the family but can't make any head way ay all with my husbands. Why is this family so guarded about their past?I can go as far as Clarence Nelson Dirk Feb 21, 1881 Pine Summit Pa. who married Dora Stephens of Berwick Pa. and his parents Henry Benjamin Dirkborn July 22, 1851 in Lycoming Pa. His mother was Elizabeth Fenstermacher. He married Lavina Lydia Ann Ernst born Feb 8, 1855 Chillisquaque, Pa Her mother was Sadie Chappel. Does anyone know anything about them? This is my legacy, my quest to find the roots of our family to pass down to my children and their children. Our heritage should not be kept hidden no matter what kind of past. Thankyou for any help.
