My name is Jaymie Winkler Wilson. I recently found your posts from several years ago. Warren Wesley Dishon was my Great Uncle. His sister Altha Lou Dishon Winkler was my grandmother. Unfortunately she passed away at the first of September 2006. She always told me how hard it was for her family to heal with her brother missing. She said that there was always hope that they would find him. I appreciate seeing information on him. I would love some more pics of the memorial if you still have them.

Hello all, I am new to Ancestry- but have started compiling a great deal of information- I am presently tracking down the dishon family in Crab Orchard like many of you - I am looking for a James Dishon who was father to James H Dishon. James Henry dishon was married to a clara emily, and I believe that His father was married to Nancy Ann Ballard Kidd. I can't get past the elder James born in 1818 and His son James Henry was born in 1854, I see possible connections to the Lewis Dishon mentioned before and his wife America, but I think I follow. The James/ Nancy line I mentioned above connecting to the Kidd line. James Henry Dishon 1818 had at least three siblings; Martha E. Dishon, Will Dishon, and Mary E. Dishon. Check out my tree and see if it makes sense to you - Thanks for any help.

The Dishon family is large. My family decends from David R. Dishon and wife Elizabeth Adams (deceased 1896); he married in 1900 Mary Casady. David's parents are: Lewis Dishon and America Adams. The families lived in Lincoln County, KY and known communities are Stanford and Crab Orchard. Lewis and America had 9 children: Catherine, DAVID R., William, Wiley, Eli, Martha, James, Ellen and Henry.

Let me know if your family heritage is from any of the above listed children.

Hi, again! It's Mrs. Navarre! My name is Heather.

Donald is my 2nd cousin, son of Rachel Dishon. I met him on here and he has some information on the Dishon's of the Kentucky area. There is a woman he knows that is working to put together more information about the Dishon ancestry. He even has some pictures that he has emailed me! This is his email dsmidd@hotmail.com.

As for the early Dishon's... I have a file... somewhere in a box... I'm trying to locate it but I was never able to connect the line from France to the US. I was missing a generation. But I'll tell you what I know from memory and it might help you get past 1719.

A boat left from La Rochelle, France that had at least 2 brothers on it with the last name Deschamps. It came to America in the southern costal region in the 1710s. That's all I can really remember at the moment. I found this information over 7 years ago!

I have researched people with the last name Deschamps in present day and it is still a well known name in La Rochelle today! As soon as I find my file I will email you what I know.

I live in Sidney, OH, but my dad and all of his family is from Kentucky. Talk to Donald, he's a great person to start with!

Hello [Mr., Mrs.?] Navarre,
It was really nice to get your reply. Stephen Smith, our neighbor, who is Lloyd's grandson, would then be your 2nd cousin. He says Lloyd's full name was Aaron Lloyd Dishon. Who is Donald, who has lots of information on the early Dishons? I would like to talk to him. Do you have the father of Augustine Dishong [Deshone] who was father to Lewis Sr.? Or Augustine's wife? I have nothing but his name.
Many thanks....we live in Coffeyville, KS....where do you live (or did I ask you already!?)

Marilyn

You can contact me at hnavarre@hotmail.com. I don't have much information... Donald knows a lot! I did not find him in any of the censuses. I have this line back to Lewis Dishon (Dishong) Sr., born 1762, Chowan Co., NC, a Revolutionary War veteran. I found a Peter Deshone in Chowan Co. as early as 1719. I think they were French Huguenots. Sincerely, Marilyn

Hi Jeff: My name is Stephen P. Dishun,I have read your
e-mail about your family name and your father. As I research
the "Dishun's", alot of questions come to mind about the
people who migrated to this country from France? Our family
came from roanoke, Virginia in 1908 when my grandfather
John Thomas Dishun got on a train in Roanoke and came to Ohio, where I live today, with his son Ray Dishun and his
wife Emma E. Dishun, my grandmother. Would like to hear
from you to discuss the family heritage!
Steve Dishun/cdishun1@cinci.rr.com

My grandmother's maiden name was Dishon, She married Henry Myers in the early 1900's, she died at age 42. My father said she was deaf and blind when she passed away. I have never seen pictures or know anything about the Dishon history. She lived in Dayton, Ohio and I think her fathers name was John. I really want to learn more about the Dishon family. She was born in Canada, but I think lived most of her life in the US. She had 4 children. Henry, Charles, James & Hazel. Hope there is some kind of link here. Lauren

I've been looking into my family tree and while searching for my grandma Dishion's roots in Macon County, Missouri I came across a few things and thought I'd share.

I don't know if my line of Dishions is related to your line of Dishons but if so a number of things would make sense. Namely how they come to be where they were in Missouri.

The following are Land Grants. They were given American soldiers by the US Gov't after the War of 1812 which pitted the newly former British colonists against British soldiers from the home country who were allied with American Indians and the French who were allied with the US on account of Napolean wanting to distract Britian from the war in Europe.

This from Chariton County Missouri for a James Dishon. It was issued 2 February 1819:

http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/PatentSearch/Detail.asp?Patent...

This from Carroll County Missouri for a James Deshon. It was issued April 8, 1819:

http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/PatentSearch/Detail.asp?Patent...

And finally this from my relative from Macon County Missouri (all three counties border one another and form somewhat of a line east to west). It was issued September 1, 1856:

http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/PatentSearch/Detail.asp?Patent...

Note: You will have to put in a zipcode to view the records. Any zipcode will do.

sorry it took me so long to find this message. Warren Wesley Dishon, KIA WW2, was my uncle. My side of the Dishon's came from Ohio - though I believe they came to Ohio from PA. My granddad was George Howard Dishon [b. July 5, 1893] and was a son of James and Lydia [Strawn] Dishon. I'm just beginning to play around with 'following the family trail', but if you're truly interested in pursuing your family, send me your e- address and I'll try to put you in touch with someone who has done quite a bit of work on our lineage.
tdavis1230@yahoo.com

Thank you. This is great because I don't have much and do have some questions. Do you want me to e mail you directly? If so, plese give me your e mail.

This is my ex husband's family and I am researching for him as well as my children.

I did go to Missouri one year and found the graves. They are posted on this site. Just click on Missouri, then Buchanan Co. and then Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

http://www.rootsweb.com/~flcemet2/welcome.htm
