Dear Albert Divine:

Do you have information about Magdalene Devine? I'm an early American history working on transatlantic trade. I ran across the name while doing research on another topic, but it's stuck with me. She appears in some tax listings are "merchant"--an odd designation for a women in Philadelphia during the 1770s. She signed at least (perhaps two?) non-importation agreements protesting British Parliamentary policy, but the last advertisement I have for asks those in debt to settle their accounts as she is relocating to Britain (this was in 1775)....meaning she didn't stay for the American Revolution, I don't think. I've always wanted to write an article about Magdalene Devine, and would appreciate any assistance you could provide.

Best,
Michelle McDonald
