DOROTHY D. "DOT" DIXIE
Was born September 20, 1938 to Bertha Patton Holloway in Gary. She was educated in the Gary Public School System. Dorothy accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Galilee Baptist Church. She continued her Christian journey and joined Jerusalem Baptist Church where she remained faithful until her illness. Dorothy had many accomplishments. She was recently employed with the Social Security Administration. Her most recent accomplishments was becoming an independent associate with Pre-Paid Legal, Inc. Dorothy departed this life on Tuesday, June 3, 2003 at Methodist Southlake in Merrillville, IN. Preceded in death by grandparents, Susie Miles and Oscar Patton; and sister, Betty Harper. She will be lovingly missed by devoted parents, Bertha & Samuel Harper; brother, Melvin Holloway of Chicago, IL; 3 sisters, Marion Green of Kalamazoo, MI, Cheryle Walker and Sheila Jeffries; 3 uncles, Charles (Dorothy) Patton, Please (Sadie) Marshall of Gary, IN, and George (Arcelia) Patton of Michigan City, IN; 3 aunts, Corrine Patton, Paulette Bradley, special aunt, Gladys Patton, all of Gary, IN; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation Monday, June 9, 2003 from 12 noon to 8 p.m. with family hour from 6-7 p.m. at the Guy & Allen Chapel, 2959 West 11th Avenue, Gary. Funeral services Tuesday, June 10, 2003, 11 a.m. at Jerusalem Baptist Church. Interment Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Professional services rendered by Guy & Allen Funeral Directors, Inc.
