Sounds fascinating. It would be exceptional, wouldn't it, if any family was without an illegitimate son or two.
I'm not sure where my Dixie marriage record comes from, though I have noticed a Dixie family, in Stonely, in a nineteenth century trade directory.
Many thanks, John.

I have been unable to tie the Dixies of Bedforshire and Huntingdon with the Dixies of Catworth in Huntingdon. The South African Dixies believe there was an illegitimate son of the main (Catworth)family and this is borne out by other Dixies in the UK.

I have an unsourced reference to a marriage between Mary Dixie of Bedfordshire and a John Dunham whose son settled in Stonely Huntingdonshire in about 1756. Does this sound as though it may fit into any of your Dixie lines? I would be grateful for any assistance. Best wishes, John.

Hello Paul,

since i posted the Sarah Dixie query i have done a lot more 'digging'.Not 100% sure about her now i'm afraid,I can only feel fairly sure about a William bc 1730 who married an Elizabeth Barton in 1755. They had children--Samuel,Ann,Thomas,William & Charles. This William [1730]would be my 5th Gt Grandfather if i have followed the trail correctly !!

My Copperwheat starting place is with my grandmother Harriet Elizabeth Copperwheat b 1871 Marston Moretaine her parents were Robert Copperwheat b Norwich and Hannah Thompson b Marston.

So many William and Charles and also too manny submitted entries in the LDS site. i have more faith in 'extracted' entries and if possible i like to see the Parish records.

So----Sarah Dixie is only on a 'maybe' list for me at the moment.

Regards, Stella aka polidor

Hey all you Dixie researchers,
I need info on Robert Dixie in Texas who married a Vivian Marian Noble and had a son named Billy Worth Dixie born in 1943. Robert Dixie died in 2000 in Austin, Tx. Vivian Marian Dixie was my birthmother. She divorced Robert sometime and married a Shelby Tucker who I think is still alive. On my original birth certificate, Vivian's married name is still Dixie and I was born in 1954. We can't find any record of her birth, marriage or divorce. We think she died either in 1988 or 1984. Does anyone know anything that might help-or any suggestions.
Thanks so much,
Laura

I am researching the DIXEY family in Essex, England. I have already traced several ancestors to towns such as Springfield, Gestingthorpe, Little Maplestead, Writtle and Halstead.
I go back to Daniel Dixey born in 1799 and have a probable connection with his father John Dixey.
Have found that sometimes spelling is given as DIXIE and expect to find other variations.
Please e-mail me on: barry.dixey@lineone.net if you think you may have a connection and wish to exchange notes.
Good luck all

The story goes that he left for Canada to work on the railway and was killed working. There is no record from the Canadian authorities about this and no immigration information. I think this was the story given to cover up some other reason for him leaving his wife. Have yo any information on what happened to Alexander John Dixie.
