Hi,
My name is Greg Doak. I live at the tip of Northern Maine(Washburn). Tonight is my first attempt to trace our family history, alothough others in the family have been at it for a while. I will have to consult with them and obtain the material they have for exact dates, but this is what I recall from memory.

In the very early 1700's, some of the Doak family in our lineage had left Scotland for Ireland. A few of them travel to Canada, to what is now called Perth Andover. Nearby they settled in a town that is still called Doaktown. My grandfather has been to Doaktown, and found a "Doak" there who looked a great deal like one of his deceased relatives. Gramp has done a lot of research and I would be happy to pass it on to you if it is of any interest.

I realize you posted message was about the first Doak to settle in the US, but this may shed light on a new path for exploring that search.

Thanks, I hope to hear from you.
Greg
