Catherine Martha Castleberry married Thomas Butler Dobbins in 1879. They both died in Hamlin, Jones County, Texas in 1935 and 1933, respectively. She wrote an article or letter regarding a double wedding that occurred in Rutherford County, NC. The two couples reportedly honeymooned on a trip via covered wagon caravan to Cobb County, GA.

The two honeymoon couples were:
1)Wade Hill Wallace and Martha Lou Dobbins (sister of Andrew J. Dobbins)- marriage bond dated 28 Dec 1865.

2) Martha Ann Wallace (sister of Wade Hill Wallace) and Andrew J. Dobbins - married on 28 Dec 1865.

Both Andrew and Martha Dobbins were siblings of Thomas Butler Dobbins.

Can anyone help me track down a copy of this writing about the double weddding and honeymoon? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Blanche Wallace

I have not found much information on the "Dobbins'" that lived in Tenn. and Ala. The last known relative I have is:
William W Dobbins b.abt 1820 Anderson County Tennessee. He married Margaret Frost b.abt 1823. Their children were John Joseph, William, Martha, Samuel, Mary, Thomas. I have census of 1850,1860, but nothing after that. Numerous Civil War profiles but unfortunatly ..numerous Wm W's. Does anyone have any information that could help me break thru this wall.HELP PLEASE!!!!

If that is the county of your ancestry it is also mine. I am Africian-American and it is hard to find any information.

Rexford Dobbins was Stanton's brother. My mother was named after him, Reecie Rexford Nielsen. Stanton Orlando Dobbins was her father. She was born in 1919 and Rexford had just come home to Oklahoma from the war. I would sure be interested in what you have in the family bible because I have almost nothing. I am especially interested in Staton and Rexford's parents. Mom is in a nursing home and her memory is not very good. In looking for info about them I found Rexford's in the death index: BD 18 Oct 1895, ss# 440-12-7528 issued in OK. Date of Death Sept1970 Fort Worth Texas. I suspect you can get more information from his Social Security application.
I guess that makes us cousins somewhat removed. Cindy (Myrtle C.) Nielsen

William W. Dobbins from Anderson County Tennessee

I am looking for William W. Dobbins b. 1820-d.1880 in Anderson County Tennessee. He married Margaret (possibly Margaret Wood). Their son was Joseph P. Dobbins married to Rebecca J. Henson. There have been rumors that William may have been a "Devers" adopted by the Dobbins family. I have not found that connection. Any help would be appreciated, as I have been "stuck" here for a long time! This family of "Dobbins" all ended up in Richard City and the So. Pittsburg area of Tennessee.

Dobbins of Mt Holly, NJ, related to Budds

Hi, I am looking for any information on John Dobbins of Mt. Holly, Burlington, NJ. His Daughter, Sarah Dobbins b. 1781 was married to Benjamin Say Budd. Their daughter, Mary Dobbins Budd b. 1821 is my great great grandmother.

Mary Dobbins Budd married William Parvin in 1892 and had a son Walter Murrell Parvin, my great grandfather.

I can't figure out who the wife of this John Dobbins is.. the mother of Sarah (married the Budd). The hints list three, one is Mary Murrell, which might make sense with my great grandfathers middle name. Also listed Sarah Read and a few others. I do have a family photo of a Florence Read Dobbins, daughter of John Dobbins and Sarah Read, but it could be one of many Johns. There is no date and many sons are John.

Any clues???
