I have wondered that as well. I had heard that William was orphaned at a fairly young age and was taken under the wing of his uncle Ed Kotula. That would suggest that Charles died earlier than 1878.

I'm curious if Charles & Carolina is the same Charles in your tree. The only problem is a one year overlap from Charles and Ottilla to Charles and Carolina... they had 3 kids, Albina/Albert Peter/Johanna Dobrowolski. When Charles died in 1878, Carolina remarried a Frank Latka and her 3 kids are listed as Latka's in the 1880 census. All 3 of Carolina's husbands died after only a few years of marriage.

I have found two 8x12 photos. One is of William with the Proll family ca 1893. The Prolls were my great grandmother's family. The other is from 1901 and is William with four other men from St. Michael's Parish.

There is a photo of his face up in the Institute of Texan Cultures which was supplied to them by my uncle. I thought I had a copy also but haven't been able to find it.

I'm getting ready to go out now but will scan the two photos I have tomorrow.

I am not related to William Dobrowolski. However, I have done quite a bit of research on the Poles who settled in San Antonio and St. Hedwig. I have always thought William was an interesting person and decided to put my findings together in an article for the Polish Genealogical Society of Texas publication. Please let me know if you have found your photos.

I am related. My paternal grandmother was Ottilia Dobrowolski, William's only daughter. I am in touch with some Dobrowolskis who live in the Hill country who are descended from William's son, also William.

I have done a lot of research on this family but don't see a Dorothy. If you can tell me who she is related to I can send you more info.
Anna Dobrowolska

I am looking for information on ANNA DOBROWOLSKA born October 7, 1895. She came to the US with an escort in 1910.

1910 - Passenger manifest says she is from TARASOWKA, AUSTRIA, fathers name as FELIKS DOBROWOLSKI and will be staying with an Uncle IGNAE WIEWORKA in New York

1915 – According to her daughter’s birth certificate, ANNA was from TARASOWKA, RUSSIA

1927 – Marriage certificate says ANNA is from AUSTRIA and her father’s name is FELIX and her mother’s name is STELLA WIEOKA

1930 – Census says ANNA and both parents are from POLAND

1936 – Social Security Application says ANNA is from POLAND, fathers name is FELIX DOBROWOLSKI and mothers name is JUSTINA WIEWIURKA

1945 - Petition for Naturalization says ANNA is from TARASOWKA ZBARASH, POLAND

1966 – Death Certificate, info per my Great Aunt says ANNA is from POLAND and her father’s name is IGNAG DOBROWOLSKA and her mother’s name is KATHERINE WEIWIORKA

My grandmother (Anna’s daughter) said that her grandfather’s name was ALEXANDER DEBROWSKA, he was a boyar and the family lived in a town near LVOV that was part of POLAND and the town was called COFF-KEY (phonetically).

Also, on my grandmothers death certificate it says that her mother ANNA is from the UKRAINE.

At this point I could use some direction… There is a Tarasowka in Poland, I can only find a name no information and I know LVOV is in the Ukraine, but can’t find Tarasowka and I believe there is a Tarasowka in Russia. With these different places and the different names of her parents I am really confused. Any help would be appreciated.
1966 Michigan DOBROWOLSKI obit?

Anyone in the area or willing to look up a Detroit, April 1966 obit for Josef Dobrowolski? I would be happy to compensate anyone for any costs. Born 12-19-1898 and died in April 1966.

This is a long-lost half-brother to my grandfather. Left the family after a falling out at 19 years old and never contacted anyone again. We're all interested to find out if his obit acknowledged his siblings or not and if he had any family. Feel free to contact me at ventiport@earthlink.net Thanks for any & all help!

Mark

Hello

My name is Lisa (Dobravolsky) Coultrup. My great grandparents came into USA in early 1900s, my great grandfather was Josef Dobrowolski, wife was Pauline Rudvanksi. Another name is Oborski, for the maternal side of the family. Both sides came into USA in 1912 together in Ellis Island. The reason I am writing to you is, I was told that some of the MA Dobrowolskis were said to be cousins. My great grandparents lived in Boston and is suburbs all their lives. I have seen the name associated with New Hampshire before, and hope we might be linked somehow.
If this sounds like a connection, please email, I would love to converse.
Lisa Coultrup

Paul - Am researching family of my father, Pawel Dobrowolski (deceased) who settled in UK around 1945. He was in Polish Navy from 1938 and, according to Ministry of Defence Records, his next of kin was Kazimiera Dobrowolska of Rybcza, Katerburg, Krzemieniec, Wolyn, Poland - now part of Ukraine, in Ternopol region. Both his parents, Antoni and Tekla, were deceased when he left Poland. Don't know what relation Kazimiera was to Pawel, but do know that his female cousin or sister married another Polish serviceman and came to UK also. They had two children - Janusz and Danuta. Even if she is Kazimiera, she will have unknown married name, so am having difficulty tracing any relations, living or deceased, in this country or elsewhere. Any possible links?

Paul- I noticed that you had Miklasiewicz on your list. I am looking for this name also. My GG Grandfather was Peter Miklasiewicz married to Anna Tarnovyski. According to info I have they were born near Tarnopol. Although it indicated Austria I think it was during the Austio-Hungarian Empire They had a son Michael born Dec 4, 1878. He came to Canada from Bucharest- although not Romanian. I know there was family still there as they sent cards in the 20's. But do not know what happened to them. I have had people look at the cards and believe the language is Russian or Ukrainian.
If you can help me out please let me know. Thanks Darcy

Dobrowolski/Tomko/Bochenek connections

I just received updated info to replace my other Dobrowolski related posts.

I found paperwork from my great grandfather John Dobrowolski where he stated he was from Poland, came to USA in 1903 and born in 1882. He came to USA to stay with brother Charles Dobrowolski. Their parents Stephen Dobrowolski and Evelyn Tomko stayed in Poland. John Dobrowolski married Anne Bochenek also who came from Poland in 1909. Anne Bochenek had two brothers who came to USA (Carteret, NJ) Nicholas and Michael Bochenek. They would 'americanize' their last name to Bohanek. Mostly all these roots in USA where in Carteret, NJ. Any connections out there? John Dobrowolski lists town of birth in Dulisko, Poland while Ann Bochenek in Lisko, Poland.
