I found a John Vincent Dougherty born 1889, Caucasian, Seedville, Garfield, CO listed WWI Draft Reg Cards, 1917-1918. There are a few NY registrations but I don't know the county your town is located.

My Mother's Father was Archie Dockerty born 1915 in CO and died in Northern Calif. I'm tracking his Father, John Orris Dockerty prob. born in PA parents emmigrated from Scotland but nativity is Ireland born.

It would be interesting to do a study about when the spellings were changed, I've seen so many but O'Dougherty is prob. the most used; our spelling is a variant.

Beth, Oregon
blotebeth@earthlink.net

My great grandmother's name was Mary (Dougherty) Braham. She married Nathaniel (Abrahams) Braham. I have found her family in the England Census and their last name was spelled Dockerty. Her father's name was Andrew and mother's name was Celina. She came to the USA in 1906 married and had 2 children, Elsie and Lewis. She settled in Jersey City, New Jersey. I have tried without much luck trying to locate any extended family of hers. My father remembers corresponding to family in Ireland but that is it. All of her paperwork was thrown away after her death. Do you have any connection to her?
