Hello Karlen,

In the early 1960s I went out with Roslyn Dockrey, who lived at that time in Chadstone, Victoria. She had an older sister and a younger brother. Her dad would probably fit the timeframe for No. 10, Leslie John Dockrey. I moved away from Victoria in 1964 so I have no idea what happened after that.

Good luck!

Thank you for the e-mail.

I have been researching my family history for over 30 years. I find that James Fleming Dockery married Paralee Best in Etowah County, Alabama 22 Dec 1881. Paralee was the dayghter of Lee Best and Mary Sullivan. They were the parents of at least 7 children::::Irene, James Oscar, Auther J., Esther A.,[these born in Alabama] Rance T., Martha Ann,[ these born in Louisiana] L. Dee.[born in Texas]

Back in 2004 I was in contact with a older lady Anna Fitzpatrick that shared some info on the DOCKERY line with me. I think she was out of the above MARTHA ANN DOCKERY LINE. Martha married a John D. Bruton and she was their daughter.

Have you done any research on this Dockery family? Do you have any pictures you would share with me. I have a picture of MARY SULLIVAN BEST that you may be interested in that I will share. That is the only pictures out of this line that I have-----james

I’ve just recently started researching the family. I would like to see your picture of Mary Sullivan Best. I have pictures of James Oscar and his wife Sadie Miller, but I don’t know of any pictures of James Fleming and Paralee.

I’m James Fleming and Paralee’s great-granddaughter. My dad, Charles Ralph Dockrey, is the son of James Oscar and Sadie. The Anna Fitzpatrick you were in contact with is a first cousin of my dad’s.

How are you related to us Dockrey’s? Where do you live? Do you know who James Fleming Dockrey’s parents were?

James Rance Dockrey was the first cousin of my paternal grandfather, James Ross Dockrey. I do not know Rance's birthplace, but I understand it would have been in the vicinity of Gadsden, AL where my grandfather was born. Rance died around 1963 as I recall in Mitchell Co., Texas (Colorado City, TX-County Seat). Before moving to Mitchell County, they resided around Roxton/Commerce/Paris, TX. Rance was also married to my maternal great aunt, Louise Anderson. They had no children. I know nothing about the significance of his middle name. Please feel free to drop me a message and I may be able to find out a few more details.

My grandfather James Ross Dockrey was born in Gadsden, AL as I recall or it might have been his father who was born in Gadsden, AL. My grandfather moved to Mitchell County Texas in 1926. He lived in or around Roxton, TX prior to moving to Mitchell County. He married Evelyn Anderson. He has cousins named James Rance, James Oscar, Charles who also live or lived in Mitchell County Texas. There are others, but the exact relationship to them is a little confusing. He had several siblings and half-siblings who were actually his cousins as well since his father married his first deceased wife's sister and had another Then, he married her sister and had another family. His cousin James Rance also married Louise Anderson, my grandmother's sister. Also, I am not sure what surname my relatives have used. Some have used Dockery while others have used Dockrey. Please drop me an email. If these names sound familiar.
