Services are at the First United Church of Christ, Tipton. The Rev. David Lorenzen will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by organist Nancy Hipple. Burial will be at Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Cedar Bluff.

Visitation is at the church.

Miss Dodds was born Dec. 30, 1898, in Cass Township, Cedar County, the daughter of Harry Dodds Sr. and Alice Mayer Dodds.

She attended Cass No. 1 Country School.

She was a seamstress.

She was a member of the First United Church of Christ and Ruth's Circle. She was a 4-H leader for years.

Survivors include nieces and nephews, Alice Glassinger and husband Jack of Chariton, Evelyn Buttz and husband Guy of Russell, Marcia Crapo of Gassville, Ark., Muriel Jeanie Bothel and husband Curt of Mount Vernon, Jim Dodds and wife Pam and Jean Hein and husband George, all of Tipton, and Jolene Evans and husband Steve of Burlington, Wis.; and a brother-in-law, Claude Mitchell of Mechanicsville,

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Naomi, Opal and Dorothy; and two brothers, Harry Dodds Jr. and one in infancy.

Dixon is a fairly unusual first name. I am aware of a Dixon Dodds born about 1870 at Usworth, Washington, Co Durham, the son of Thomas Dodds and Barbara Douglas.

Other children of the marriage are John W c 1854, Robert c1857, Charlotte c1860,Alexander Douglas c 1865 and Richard c1867

The family originated from Scotland living in Duns at one time. In County Durham they lived at 149 Ormonde St, Hedworth,Jarrow at the 1861 census and at 71 Queen St, Ryhope near Sunderland at 1871 census. On the 1891 census Barbara is a widow living with her son Dixon at Washington

Charles "Charlie" Dodds, 62 of Fairview, PA,
died following a brief illness at his home on Saturday June 20, 2009. He was born in Meadville, March 21, 1947 a son of Lorraine VanTassel Wilson of Lexington, Mich. and the late John T. Dodds. Charlie enlisted in the US Navy following high school. He served aboard the USS Comstock and received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with one bronze star and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with device. Upon his discharge from the military he returned to the Meadville area where he went to work in the tree service industry. He had been employed at Bovaird Tree Service in Girard for 35 years as a tree surgeon. He collected many types of tree burls, enjoyed hunting and was always ready for a good game of chess. Charlie will be sadly missed by his family which in addition to his mother includes his wife, Sheryl A. Kemp Dodds, whom he married October 2, 1998 in Erie; also by two sons, Charles Thomas Dodds Jr. of Erie, Timothy John Dodds and his companion Natalie Hess of Newberg, Ore.; a daughter, Tammy L. Mannon and her husband Ryan of Millcreek; two step daughters, Erin Albright and her husband Dean of Ottawa, Canada, Jessica Higby and her Fiance' Paul Topka of Pittsburgh; a step son, SSGT Joshua R. I've tracked my husband's family line back to Andrew Dodds born in KY in 1796 according to the records I have, he married Zipporah Todd in 1818 in Madison Co, KY. Although I've found some references to potential parents for him, none have panned out. He came to IN with his wife around 1820, and had enough money to buy quite a bit of property and start a business. He was also educated and could write beautifully. I even tried contacting colleges that were in existence in KY at the time to see if they had anything, but many of them do not have any records back beyond 1900 or so. Anyone have any info to share?

Hello again Dodds family researchers. I'm hoping someone can help me with the family of John Dodds, b.c. 1795 in PA, and his second wife Margaret King, b.c. 1799 in PA. I believe I now know who Margaret King was (not proven but fairly certain). Susan King, living with them in 1850 and 1860, was Margaret's sister (also not entirely proven). I am looking for information on George Dodds who was married to Jane. George Dodds was related to Alexander Dodds in some way. George and Jane Dodds were irish or scotch and had a son named James Albert Dodds who married Emma Edith Prince. They lived in Lambton, Petrolia, Enniskillen, Ontario. Alexander Dodds lived in Michigan and my Dodds relatives worked for him at his business.

Most of my family is from durham. I might be able to help a bit but it seems that the Dodds line is a hard one to trace and get information on, as I have been finding.

My Great Great Grandfather emmigrated to Canada but had sibblings that from what I can tell stayed in Durham.

I have a Dixon b aprox 1874 and a William B arounf late 1800's they could possibly be your fathers father. I haven't gone further on them so I only have their names.

From what I have been able to find my whole family resided in Durham. My G.G.G. Grandfather was Dixon Dodds B around 1840 married a Magdalene. Had my G.G Grandfather Fenwick and his sibblings, Fenwick was born around 1866 mariied a Matilda Young. Had 4 children including my G.Grandpa Roland born in 1900.

I may be realted to the William Nicholas Dodds.
My G.G.G. Grandpa Dixon had a son named william, I don't have much on him just his first and last name but the timing would be about right for him to father you grandfather as his older brothe would have been about 44 but I think he was born around 1880.

My Family is from Durham.
My Great Grandfather Roland Dodds was born in Durham abt 1900. He emmigrated to Canada with his family when he was young beofre 1920. His father is Fenwick Dodds and was Born in Spennymoor Durham in abt 1866. His father was Dixon Dodds born abt 1840 in Saciston, Durham. Dixon is as far back as I have been able to get as My Great Grandfather Died when my Granfather was about 4 and My Grandfather Died when I was 4 so not much is know about the Dodds heritage.
If you would like to talk to me more let me know, I happy to share all that I have and would really love to learn more about the Dodds'

To add to that, Thomas was born Dec Q 1895 and Hannah on 6 December 1897, both Sunderland. They married at St. Peter's, Monkwearmouth. I don't have much more info on Thomas, though I do on Hannah prior to her marriage.

hi, my grandad is a Dodds his name is Kenneth Dodds d.o.b 26-03-1928 his mum and dad where Isobella Moore and Thomas Dodds they had 11 children, Kenneth, Bell, Shirley, Irene, Jim, Thomas, Dennis, Dixion, Eve, and Walter. i am looking for the family of solomon dodds also known as sam. he was a r.s.m in the army . he married twice. his second wife was a lot younger than him. he went to live in tuxford notts with his second wife ivy. he died at sheffield hospital in the early 1960`s after having gone in for heart surgery. he was born in morpeth does anyone know of him????????

I am looking for the death registration for James DODDS b. 1801 in Ireland died 19 Aprile 1862 in Orangeville, married @ 1825 to Mary FOSTER.
Another is George DODDS b. 1800 Ireland, died 7 June 1890 in Dufferin Co. Ontario, married @ 1820 to Ann BULLOCK Dufferin Co.
another is Robert DODDS b. 1790 Ireland died 14 April 1874 Dufferin Co. married @ 1820 to Elizabeth MAHON and 06 Dec. 1831 Lettitia DALE. Toronto
see how this turns out.
