I hope you're still out there, I guess I haven't seen this posting before.

According to "A Summary of The Descendants of William Dogins, Sr. of Newberry Co., South Carolina by Allen Cox and Cal and Juanita Dodgen (1984) page 64:
James C (born 1850) married Mary (born 1940) and had William Riley, Laura, James Amos, Alfred Keith, and Mary C.

If this is the right family, his dad was William (Billie) born 1808. Billie had two wives, Anna (1812) and Hesterann Aiken (1854). Does this sound right to you?
