City of La Crosse

LEO DOERFLINGER, merchant and saloon-keeper, Fourth street, between Jay and King; was born in Baden, Germany, in 1826; his father, Joseph DOERFLINGER, came to America in 1848, and settled on a farm in what is now the town of Shelby, La Crosse Co., Wis., his being the second farm settled in the county; he died in 1860, at the age of 60. Leo came to America in 1855; lived on the farm with his father two years; has resided in the city since 1857. He was married in La Crosse, in 1857, to Mary Magdalena Bundru, also a native of Baden, and has three children - William, Mary Lucy and Mary Magdalena. William D. was born and brought up in La Crosse; has been clerking since 1872, first for Rau & Klein, and afterward for John C. Smith, and is also in company with his father in the store on Fourth street.
