My gggg grandfather was Levy Derrow, also known as Levien Doerries or Doerge(s). I believe the "Doerrie(s)" spelling was pronounced "Derr-ee" but I've always wondered how the two spellings could be related, since the "g" in "Doerge" would seemingly give the name a very different pronunciation. How do you and yours pronounce your last name? Is it with a hard "g" (as in "good") or a soft "g" (as in "George")?
