Ok...a couple new wrenches have been thrown into my research....
Philip & Lillie's oldest son, Louis, was married by Rev. J.D. Darling in 1911. According to the Williams Directories, he was at Camp Washington Methodist in 1911 (which no longer exists) and so I'm thinking that they weren't Catholic. I've gotten in tough with the UMC to see if they have any records anywhere of that family.
In addition, I have come into possession of an old address book from 1905 that was Louis'. (No "Nick" of course. Drats.) Anyway...there's an entry for a "Charles Lewis Doerr" Aug 20 birthday. I've NEVER come across this name in family lore or research. I'm totally dumbfounded. Any ideas?
Not sure what the Catholic view is on the Masons but I've also recently found Louis to be heavily involved with the Shriners in Detroit after 1921.
And while I'm here...I also have tons of newspapers clippings from Louis, or his mom, about his exploits as the manager of baseball teams in Cincinnati called the Keystones and then the Maroons. I've found nothing on either. Anyone ever run across these? Unfortunately they only clipped articles. No dates, no Banners. I have no idea where or when, other than the Cincinnati area, prior to his move to Detroit approx. 1912....
Thanks in advance.
