Most of the old Hanover County records were distroyed during the Civil War. So far no wills or other records have been found.
Outisde of the "Virginians in the Revolutionary War, all information has come from the Virginia Revolutionary war Bounty Land records which are available at the Library of Viginia (
http://www.lva.lib.va.us/dlp/index.htm). Scan to RevWar Records, click on digitized images and three entries will come up for Timohy Dogan. Hambleton first appears on the Hanover Co. Personal Property Tax record on Mar 14, 1820 indicating a birth year of approximately 1799 since you had to be 21 to be listed.
I am afraid that this is a case of "guilt by association" in that Timothy Dogan is the only Dogan listed up until 1798 and then there appears Samuel, David W, Nathaniel, James and finally Hambleton. Timothy was not married until after the
RevWar. Mary (Wade) Dogan was on the "poor levy" in 1823.
