Welcome cousin Aimee!!! I’m not much for tagging the –in-law on the end. Since you’re Emil’s better half, as far as I’m concerned, you’re the sixth cousin that I’m aware of on this board.

Sorry that I haven’t responded sooner, but since I wrote the message that you responded to, I moved from Illinois, where I was born and had lived all my life. My son moved to Colorado in summer of 2001. I had hoped to join him, but couldn’t find a house I could afford (due to my health I could no longer afford to make mortgage payments). So I’ve added a state to the list of Joseph’s descendents, I bought a cottage in Cheyenne, WY. I barely used my computer for about two months.

I needed help packing, and I don’t have anyone to help unpacking, so I haven’t found all of my research material. I can fill in the basics for now. I’m not sure how much detail you’re looking for, so if you want more detail, hopefully it won’t be too long ‘til I can give it to you.

As you can tell from my message and Cynthia’s, the original Dom immigrant arrived from Germany in 1723. According to all of the census records that I currently have, Conrad Dom was born in Maryland, and his wife, Charlotte Hildebrand, was born in Virginia. Earl mentioned in his research that a Conrad Dom settled in PA in 1723. Depending on his age at arrival, he could either be the father or grandfather of our Conrad. Since Charlotte and Conrad’s oldest child was Joseph, born by 1770, they probably married around 1768/9 and were born around 1750. The basic info that I have about Charlotte and Conrad’s family and Joseph (1770)’s family is in my previous message.

Now to your branch – Joseph (1770) and Mary (bn Summers in 1779 - PA)’s second known son was Joseph (bn 1806 – KY). I have all six census records for Joseph (1806) from 1830 thru 1880. He married Esther Compton (bn abt 1811 in IN) 12 June 1827 in Green Co, KY. Sometime between 1844 and 1851, Esther and William Compton died. William had married Maria Halstead 18 Jan 1935 in Elkhart, IN and moved in 1838 to Iowa. When Joseph (1806) and Maria (bn abt 1819 in Ohio? – parents born in NY) married, her four children from her first marriage ( John-1837, William-1839, James-1841 and Catherine-1844) joined his family. Joseph (1806) had at least eleven children by his two wives: Isaac-1832, a son-1833/5, Calvin-1839, Martha-1846, Joseph Jr-1848, Francis-1849, Maria-1852, Phebe Ann-1854, Eliza Jane-1856, Almira-1857 and Laura E-1859.

Maria Dome (bn-10 April 1852 in Warsaw, Kosciusko Co, IN and died 27 Sept 1928 in Pomona, Los Angeles Co, CA) married (1868 in MO) to Francis Marion Conklin (bn-3 June 1841 in Urbana, Champaign Co, OH, died 10 Feb 1926 in Pomona, Los Angeles Co, CA and son of John N. – bn 1801 in Ohio and Amelia – bn 1801 in PA) They had eight children: Charles Henry (bn- May 1870 in MO – had family), Harry (bn- March 1872 in MO – had wife?), Frances Maria (bn- Jan 1874 in MO – had family), Eva Belle (bn- 1876 in MO – had family), Laura (bn- 1879 in MO – had family), Stella (bn- July 1885 in SD – had family), Florence (bn- Sept 1887 in SD – had family) and Bessie (bn- Aug 1890 in SD – had family).

Frances Maria Conklin (bn- 27 Jan 1874 in Utica, Livingston Co, MO, died 13 July 1968 in Corvallis, Benton Co, OR and buried in Fircrest Cemetery, Monmouth, Polk Co, OR) married (28 November 1889 in Conde, Spink Co, SD) to Wilmot Kester (bn- 26 Feb 1860 in Stouffville, Markham Twp, Ontario, Canada, Immigrated 1881, Naturalized 1916, died 21 July 1943 in Corvallis, Benton Co, OR and one of the nine children of William Kester – bn 1827 in Ontario / married 28 July 1871 in Ontario / to Catherine Yake – bn 1834 in Ontario). Frances and Wilmot had 7 children: Marie Catherine (bn- 2 Feb 1891 in Tacoma, Pierce Co, WA), Wellington (bn- 25 Mar 1894 in No. Howell, Marion Co, WA), Eva Belle (bn- 26 Dec 1895 in No. Howell, Marion Co, WA), Wesley (bn- 26 Feb 1898 in No. Howell, Marion Co, WA), Ralph Victor (bn- 24 May 1900 in No. Howell, Marion Co, WA), Harry Emery (bn- 12 May 1904 in Gervais, Marion Co, WA) and Jessie M (bn- June 1909 in Pratum, Marion Co, WA).

Eva Belle (bn- 26 Dec 1895 in No. Howell, Marion Co, WA and died 2 June 1962 in Lafayette, Contra Costa Co, CA) married (4 October 1915 in OR) to Elmer Emil Fredrickson (bn 15 March 1893 in Wakefield, Dixon Co, NB to Swedish immigrants and died 28 Sept 1933 in Corvallis, Benton Co, OR). Eva and Elmer had three daughters: Frances L. (bn Feb 1917 in OR), Florence E. (bn 1920 in OR) (Connie’s mom?) and Eva M. (bn 1928 in OR) (Emil’s mom?).

As to the origin of Frances Maria Conklin’s name – since her father’s name was Francis Marion, she could have been named after him – or – since she had a father named Francis, a mother named Maria, her mother’s brother named Francis and a grandmother named Maria – it could have been a combination of any of them.

I’ve added you to my Cousin’s Mailing List, so I can let you know when I have any updates. In the meantime, feel free to contact me on this board or at my Email address. It may take a few days to get a response to you since I spend limited time on the computer.
