I originally posted looking for my grt grt grandfather under a previous screen name. i havent had any concrete evidence of who he was. Since I found issues of the adair county newspaper online I feel I have made a little progress. There was a man,Forest Dohoney, that left Adair for Texas in Feb of 1901, my grt grandfather was born in May of 1901. So Im thinking he got out of time about the time my grt grt grandmothers pregnancy began to show. Im not sure if this Dohoney is related to you, Id have to to a bit more looking to know. My grandmother and her family has mentioned a Chapman Dohoney before. I believe her family farm, The Willis Farm, was next to some Dohoneys.

It's been 8 years since your post, but I've just started researching my genealogy. My father, Wm. Alfred Dohoney was born in in Kentucky in 1906. His parents were Louis Chapman Dohoney (b 30 Nov 1870) and Velonia B. Clark. Louis' parents were N. G. Dohoney b. 1839) and Catherine Price. Any connections?

Dohoney Family in Chicago - John Dohoney & Bridget Burke

Hello - I'm looking for any information or descendants of John Dohoney and Bridget Burke, both born in Ireland. John was born March 1840 according to the 1900 census, and came to the US in the 1860's. He married Bridget Burke but that may have been a second marriage. They had children: Laurence, James, William, John, Margaret, Mary, Stephen, Thomas, Catherine, and Martin. They lived at 220 Swan St., Town of Lake, Chicago. Many of the children died young, including Margaret, my ancestor, who died of TB at the age of 33. Margaret married John Joseph O'Connell on May 21, 1903 at St. Cecelia's Church, Chicago. Please write with any information. Thank you.

Hi Joe,
Nice to hear from you! I've been attempting to research both Dohoney and Kruczek off and on, when I have a chance for the past few years. Aunt Pat sent me your address about 8 or 9 months ago because she said you were doing the same thing, but it's not good anymore. Can you e-mail your new address to me at Dikruz@aol.com? Also, I have some old photos I can scan and make copies of if you'd like. Thanks, Diane

Hi Diane! I was doing some searches on Google and entered "Winkofske" and came upon your posted message. I have been doing a lot of research on the family and would be happy to share what I've found so far. John Joseph Dohoney was christened in Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago on 29 May 1892. All I know of his first wife is that her last name might have been Downey. They had 3 kids: Bernice, who died in 1967, William(later Bill Fitzgerald) and John (later Patrick) - all are now deceased. He married Jessie (our gm) on 3 Jan 1923 @ Our Lady of Sorrows in Chicago. His parents were William A. Dohoney (1 Nov 1865 - 8 Nov 1930) and Annie Lynch (circa 1864-5 - 27 Feb 1907). I even know that William's parents were born in Ireland - Thomas Dohoney (circa 1837 - 13 Feb 1886) was born in County Kilkenny and his wife was Catherine (Katie) Burke. I'm heading out now but will give you more info in the future if you'd like to correspond. Take Care and say hi to your Mom and Dad and Jim!
Your Cousin, Joe

Diane, how strange to see that my father's name is the same as your grandfather's. But my dad was born in Cinncinnati in 1918 and died in New York in 1995. He never talked about grandparents, but made some passing reference to Edward M. Doheny of Teapot Dome infamy (an oil deal/scandal in the 1920's, I believe). I think we were led to believe we might be related to him, possibly a brother of my grandfather. I don't know that we might be related, since times, dates and cities don't seem right, but please reply, maybe we'll dig up something else!

I'm am looking for any information about my grandfather, John Joseph Dohoney, born - May 7th, 1892, died - January 27, 1961 in Chicago, Illinois. Anything would be helpful, my mom doesn't know much about his past except he was married and had 2 sons (her 1/2 brothers) then his wife died and he remarried (I think her mother's maiden name was Winkofske?). My mother has(d) two brothers (Richard (deceased) and Tommy and two sisters (Pat and Ethel (deceased). I'd like to find out about his parents, siblings, when he moved to Chicago, etc. Thanks!
