J Kroninger,
I have found much about the Dohse's since I posted that message. I am working with five others trying to find our common ancestry. I have not seen the name Sarah Joann but will keep it in mind. The Dohse surname started as Dose and comes from the north of Germany. Myself and the other researchers find that we all go back to a common area of Mecklenburg. We also find that the U.S. Dohse's mostly come from the Ohio area and Kentucky before that. Some of these Dohse's migrated west and were settlers in Oregon. I will keep your search for Sarah in my files.
Regards, Keith

Did the Heinrich Dohse you are talking about, also go by Henry? Do you also know Sophia's maiden name? I am doing my husband's family tree, and we have a Henry Dohse (with no birth date), but a death date of July 18, 1895. Some of the children we have for them are: Earnst Dohse (never married), Gustave Dohse m. Mary, William Dohse m. Annie VonBergen, Augusta m. Henry VonBergen, and Otto Dohse m. Ida Lange. There could be more. Do you have any of this same information? My e-mail is srmueller@ftb.com.

Mainly Ida and
ella ( sisters of George)...Any info confirming this will be greatly appreciated..Thanks..Mary

Dohse Family in Ohio

Your message attracted my attention because of the family name; also, I noticed your Grossman name matches a name that appeared next to my grandparents' name in the 1900 Toledo census. Are you related? I have some info on the early Henry Dohse family that includes Johann and Sophia Koch but can't find "John" among them. Would like to hear from you. I'm searching for any info on Amelia Unruh Dohse, my grandmother, who came by ship to Ohio in 1882 and married Louis Dohse. She died in 1919 but no death certificate is listed in research so far.

Clara Dohse Smith, Kent, Washington
