I'm looking for information about my great grandmother, Annie Doig, youngest child of Michael Doig and Janet Cunningham, and her siblings. They are David Doig b.1868, Jessie Baxter Doig, Clara Wilson Doig, and Helen Cunningham Doig. Clara married a man named Robert Dingwall and they had a child, Janet (Jen). I believe she died in the 1990s. I'd so like to know more about these people and their daily lives. Thank you for your time.

Doig adoption

My grandfather, Donald Bruce Doig, was born on Staten Island on July 27, 1926. He was adopted by a Doig couple (Earl and Gladys). He always thought his birth-mom was a "lady of the night" was how he put it. I'm interested in figuring out if there is any way to find out more about her. I don't know her name or age or anything, other than the place of his birth.

Any ideas?

Sources of Marriage Information - Scotland Uk.

Hi there,
I have searched Scotland's People without success for a Thomas Doig and Margaret Fullarton Keith Barron Gibb's marriage. I have used the different wild cards and names with no success. According to family sources they were married in Kinrossie, Collace, Perth, Scotland.

So here is my question:
Besides Scotland's People {Old Parish Records} what other records are available to prove that a marriage between these two people took place? Or did they live in sin? The 1841 Census lists Thomas and Margaret living in Cheapside. Also I have a birth certificate for their first son showing he was born in Dundee, Fofar, Scotland in 1843.

Not sure what to do next. Can't visit Scotland as I live in Australia. Would like help to locate other sources available for searching. Can anyone recommend a researcher for the Tay Valley Area?

Any help appreciated.

I know we will never get to a gathering, but my great grandmother was Margaret Doig born in Scotland in 1832. She married David Lamb, and they came to the US. Both are buried in Fort Wayne Indiana at the Lindenwood Cemetery.

Did you have quite a few people attne the gathering of the Doig's. I have been unable to find any information on the great grandparents prior to their coming to the US. No records that I have checked come up with anything.

Anyhow, just thought I would drop you a line. You can reach me at hmundt31yahoo.com I have information in the ancestry on the couple where they were born etc., however I have a lady now that has contacted me about the Lambs and she is finding other information that maybe they were born in Ireland, however my great aunt who was a daughter of these people knew they came from Scotland, but she has been dead since 1949. Her name was Anna Lamb and she lived with my parents for many years, until her death in 1949. At that time I had no interest in the family tree.

My grandfather's second wife was a Margaret Doig, who had emigrated from Scotland in the twenties...He was Robert Clydesdale, born 4 May 1870 in Old Monkland, Lanark, Scotland. His first wife, Julia Paterson Ketchin nee Birrell, died in Oct 1931 in New Westminster BC. Grandfather married Margaret in 1932 or 33 in Burnaby, BC. She had a sister, Katherine Doig, and another who was married to a Mr. Milliken and lived at that time in Burnaby. Robert Clydesdale died 5 June 1958 and I believe Margaret died in the early sixties. Margaret was called, by me, 'little grannie' and I saw a lot of her while growing up.
Re: Margaret Doig, b. abt 1870, Scotland/Canada

My relative Margaret Doig was born in Canada in 1869 or 1870 and married George Wright in DeSmet South Dakota. I know you were looking for another surname but it sounded similar. Margaret's mother was Phoebe McLiement and her father was John Doig from Scotland. When John died, her mother married John F Wright. Do any of these names sound right?

Doig family connections

There would be no direct relationship, if I get an answer to this. My maternal grandmother´s sister, Ellen Farrell, married Alexander McLaren Doig, who was born in Rippen, Ontario, Canada. They had I believe, a son who died after his mother but before his father. At least during the years of my childhood, Aunt Nell and Uncle Sandy, as we called them, lived in Florida...St. Petersburg or Tampa, I´m not sure which (or whether). If anyone has info on these folks of mine, I´d love to share....
