Shirley,
I have a John Doyen who was born 8 Dec 1807 in Ryegate, Caledonia, Vermont. He was a nephew of my husbands ancestor James. The "History of Ryegate, Vermont", states: John m. a Miss White at Burlington; removed to Canada, later to Indiana. Serveral children. I have been unable to find any more information about him. However, I know that one of his brothers and two of his sisters that were in Canada for a while, have records in Canada by the name "Doying". And I have seen records for Doying and Doyen with many spelling also - Doin, Dawin, for instance. Another spelling was Doyne.

I think it is possible that this John wound up in Bradford County, PA. What dates do you find John there on the tax lists? Do you know the names of his children? Perhaps there are some family names that I recognize.
