My wife is descended from Timothy Dolly, who was born in the tiny town land of Waterdale, in Claregalway, County Galway in Ireland in 1862. He married Margaret Laffey from the same locale. Timothy's father is believed to have been Michael Dolly. From reading the posts on here, and some other research, it seems that the name Dolly is a very rare one and is localized to this tiny area. That means is must be of fairly recent origin. It also means most of you who have posted here in the last twelve years must be related to my missus. Looks like the original poster must have changed his email address or otherwise disappeared, but if anyone here has any more info they wish to share about this family, please do so. FYI, Tim Dolly spoke Irish and died in I think 1926. His daughter Sarah came to Elizabeth, NJ, USA around that time.
