Well i just stumbled accross this genealogy site by complete accident. Im from the Dublin Dolly's, actually directly from the Dolly's in Galway. Some of what i have read here posted by Rick and Shauna rings a bell, in fact i think Rick might have actually been in contact with my aunt who is a mercy sister in Galway and maybe also my sister but then again it might be someone else. As far as i am aware Rick has it right, it is the english who are responsible for the name it originally was o Dathlaioch, there are several different spellings but all translate to Colourful Warrior. The Dolly's for the last 100 years in the Galway region have been known as blacksmiths and great hurlers but before that i dont know anything, well thats my imput if anybody has anything interesting i would appreciate it if you would send it on.
