Lucy Jane Dolton (William's daughter) that married Fletcher Tivis Bland is somewhat related to me, after Fletcher died she went to California and married William Wright Townsend in 1913. William Wright Townsend is my great grandfather's brother. He died in 1919 in Colorado and Lucy Jane (Dolton) Townsend can be found in the 1920 census there. After that she apparently moved back to Osborne Kansas and may have went back to using the name Lucy Jane (Dolton) Bland. She died in 1945 and is buried in Delhi Cemetery, if anyone has information on her or her exact death date, I would appreciate the information.

I just found your message posted 1 Nov 2002 and hope you are still researching William Dolton and Mary Ann McCracken. Mary Ann McCracken was the sister of my GG grandfather, Robert McCracken who was born in Orange Co, Indiana in 1828. If you have any information on the parents, sibling, etc of Mary Ann and Robert, I would certainly appreciate hearing from you.

His father and presumably Louisa's husband is stated as Thomas King. At the time of his birth they were living at 127 Greyhound Road, Tottenham, North London.

I have yet to find any record of a marriage between Louisa and Thomas so any help would be much appreciated.

Garry

Dalton / Dolton from VA. &KY.

I am still searching for my Dalton / Dolton family.

Sarah Ann Dalton was b. Sept. 17, 1820 & d. Oct. 14, 1875 she married Joseph Kirby b.Mar. 31, 1820 & d. July 4, 1865
on April 27, 1843 in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY. This is documented in our family Bible and with the Jefferson County Clerk in KY.

Their youngest daughter Josephine Henrietta Kirby b. May 23, 1859 (KY) is found in the 1880 US Census, 20th Ward, Pricinct A, Cincinatti, Hamilton County, Ohio.

Josephine was living there after the death of her mother with her Uncle, Milton A. Dalton. Milton had married Margaret from Massachusetts. Milton was born in KY in 1834. They lived for a while in Indiana where their son Harry M. Dalton was born in 1858. Milton's mother was born in Kentucky. and his father was from Virginia.

Sarah Kirby had 8 children. Most of whom died before the age of 20. I am searching for the lost graves of 6 of those children. Her 4th child was JAMES COX KIRBY b.July 7, 1850 in unknown, d. June 25, 1863 near South Carrollton, Muhlenburg County, Kentucky (during Cival War) where his grave is found.
The missing graves are for:
Virginia Clarissa Kirby 1844-1865
William Thomas Kirby 1846-????
James Cox Kirby 1848-1849
Alice Orrena Kirby 1853-1873
Eliza Hellen Kirby 1855-1855
Josephine H. Kirby 1859-????

I would very much like to know the birth and death place of SARAH ANN (DALTON) KIRBY and the names of her parents.

I believe Sarah & Milton may have been related to a JJ Dalton b. 1830 in KY who married Amelia of Liverpool England.
JJ Dalton is found in the 1880 US Census living with his wife and 8 children at FALLS OF BLAINE, LAWRENCE COUNTY, KY.

If you know of these families please contact me. I have many walls to topple. Lettie

Todd,

Yes, we certainly are related. We have differences on Williams dates we will have to solve, but if you are a descendent of Kinder, there is no doubt.

I will e-mail you separately what I have on the Doltons and Mallonees. Williams mother was Mary M. Mallonee and I just picked up her 1899 obituary from the Keokuk Co. Historical Society in Sigourney Wed. afternoon. It states that she was married to Robinson Dolton. Didn't mention a Samuel. Possibility tho that his name could have been Samuel Robinson Dolton. Also awaiting responses from a couple of other researchers about the parents of Mary Ann McCracken.

Descendents of George W. Dolton, Williams brother, changed their spelling to Dalton. Virgil Knight from Ga. just sent me a file on his line. Will e-mail that separately also.

Mr.Mace I believe we are related William Dolton who married Mary Ann McCracken and fought at the battle of Shilo and was wounded in the stomach was my GGGgrandfather. They had five children the second being Kinder Dolton. He and Ella Chadwick had 8 children the third being Edward A Dolton who married Mary Collinsworth. They in turn had four children including their second my grandfather Jack Anderson Dolton. He was born in Kansas and moved the family to Idaho when his father Edward died young in a farming accident- age 53 died 12-31-34.Any info on Samuel Dolton or Mary would be world of help. I am also trying to find out if the family name was always spelled with an "o". My grandfather bore a striking resemblence to one of the infamous "Dalton Gang".I also a little info on William and Mary's children. Looking forward to hearing from you. - Todd Dolton

Re: William Dolton

Todd,
There are at least 2 William Doltons in Orange Co. b. 1829. The William Dolton in the 13th of Iowa is my William Dolton, b. Nov. 22, 1829, d. Jan. 31, 1884 in Kansas, my 2grandfather. He married Mary Ann McCracken on Apr. 5 1849 in Orange Co. I am sure his father is Samuel Dolton and his mother is Mary M. Mallonee.

The other William Dolton, b. also in 1829 I believe is the son on Samuel Hyson Dolton and Hannah Ball. There may be another William around as well. In the 1850 Orange census, Samuel is gone and Mary Mallonee Dolton is living not far from Samuel Hyson Dolton so there is a possibility there is some relation. One researcher thinks Samuel Hyson is the son of Bradley Dolton. If you have anything else, let me know.
