Michael Dommer, who lived in Unionville,Iowa was my great grandfather, My grandfather was Lewis Dommer, he passed away in 1985. Minnie Woods was his last surviving sister, Minnie passed away a few years ago, she was well into her 90's and she was in her home in Ottumwa until shortly before she passed away. Somewhere I have pictures of Great Grandpa Dommer carrying mail bags from the train station in Unionville. I think I finally determined that he immigrated from Germany in around 1881. At one time I knew what area they were from, seems it was somewhere south of Stuttgart. There is a family of Dommers in stuttgart that owns a manufactering company of some type, I emailed Michael Dommer, who was the sales manager, he did reply and it sounded like his family may have originated from the same area south of Stuttgart. And yes it is interesting.
