Samuel Domer was born on 3 Sept. 1818 in Sharpsburg, Washington, Maryland. He was the son of Henry Domer and Rosannah Deibert. On 10 March 1853 he married Rachel Varner in Ogle County, Illinois.

Rachel Varner was the daughter of Cynthia Ann Knox and William Henry Varner. She was born on 3 Jan. 1829 in Fayette County, Ohio.

Samuel and Rachel had 8 known children:

Martha A. or Frances (it has A. on her tombstone) born 15 Feb. 1854. Married to Charles C. Reber or Reaber on 19 Sept. 1875. Died at the age of 22 on 15 Feb. 1876 and is buried at Camling also known as Bald Hill Cemetery in Ogle County, Illinois. Her headstone includes the names of her grandmother, Cynthia Varner, her father, Samuel Domer, his first wife, Elizabeth, Martha's mother, Rachel and a sister, Lydia Ann.

Andrew Jacob born 29 July 1857. Married Ida. L. Lewis.

William Henry born 21 April 1859. Married 19 Dec. 1881 to Mary Catherine (Kate) Alter. Died 23 Jan. 1935. Buried at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Morris, Ogle Co., IL.

Samuel Oscar born 21 may 1864. Married on 25 Nov. 1889 to Emma C. Shuber. Died 1945. Buried at Buffalo Cemetery Buffalo Township, Ogle Co., IL.

Franklin V. born 30 Sept. 1868. Died 1932 in Iowa.

Frederick W. Born 29 April 1870. Married Ann C. Fridley on 2 April 1893.

Sarah A. Domer born 10 July 1873. Married William W. Koontz on 5 Oct. 1898. Died 1940 and is buried at Plainview Cemetery in Mount Morris, Ogle Co., IL.

Lydia Ann Domer born 27 Nov. 1855. Died 10 Sept. 1862 at the age of 6 . Buried at Camling Cemetery, Ogle County, IL.
