Hi Judy Holt,

or indeed any of the rest of you. Particularly looking for details of Domicans from Kildare. Would like to know details from the cemetaries etc.

Trying to find out about the origins of the name also for a family based here. If i can help you from this end in Ireland I most certainly will try.

thanks
GB

hi,
I really couldnt tell you if our relatives are the same. All i know is my grandmother was called Ellen Domican. I can find no records of her whatsoever. She died when my father was 5 years old i think, and he died when i was 5 years old so if you have any info it would be much appreciated. Ellen married William Leahy who i think came from County Cork in Ireland. That is all i know about her. If i get any more info which ties in with yours i will get back to you. By the way , i did wonder if she was an orphan who was brought up by Dominican nuns as i am sure there was an orphanage run by dominican nuns in cork. This would explain why i can find no records. Do you have any info about the origins of the domican surname?

I am researching John Peter Domican born c 1836 in Newcastle on Tyne. His father was Peter Domican born in Ireland c 1794. Does this have any connection with your family. JP later changed his name to Poole and is shown as a comedian with his wife an actress.

One of their children went to England to live.

Thos.' father was Patt Domican and his mother Bridget Dunn.

I have other information, and would love to share, as well as find others connected to this Holt / Domican line.
