I have been at a dead end for many years with two of my great-great grandmothers, Altje Dominee, wife of Klaus Troost and Hendrika Dominee, wife of Jan Bovendam II. Both families are from the Staphorst area of the Netherlands and migrated to Michigan. According to my 98 year-old great aunt, these two ladies were cousins and referred to as "Spanish ladies". Although I have the more traditional blond hair, blue eyes, my mother has dark hair and almost olive complexion.
