Info on John Samuel and Mary Ann is a bit sketchy. There is some confusion about who is the mother of some of the Dominico children and I can't find any baptism records for a lot of them (St Giles doesn't seem to feature very much on Ancestry). You are welcome to have a look at my tree and extract any information you don't already have.

My Great Grandmother was Mary Ann Dominico, born in the St Giles area of London in 1865. Her father was John Samuel Dominico, born in Knightsbridge Middlesex (now London) in 1812. Baptism records quite often show the surname as Dominick in the case of my family.
I'm interested to know where the Dominico family came from, when and why. I've come to a dead end at the moment.
I don't know whether they had relatives in other parts of the country.

I stumbled anto this site tonight and do really have my "stuff" in order but I do have it and direct line from me to George Fellers, b. 1802 d.1882. Are you still around and interested? There is a George born 1804 who is somehow related. By the way, the Dominicks hooked up with Fellers somewhere but as I said, I need to get get stuff out to look up details. There are several Johns and Georges back through the Fellers family of Newberry County and surrounding area of SC. My gfather was John Press Fellers, Prosperity, SC. My dad is George. And they are all back through the family. Vicki

Hi. I do not think I have info that will help you but I might. I will look. Do not expect that to be before holidays. I have not fould the box since we moved. I still have lots of family in that area, mostly Prosperity. Some of them are very old but still sharp and may have some info. I will ask around next time I am there. There is an old home place that is very old. It is still in the family of H. Dominick but not close relatives of mine now. I will ask when the family acquired or built it. It is Dominick house, I just do not know how old the house is.
Feel free to remind me to look into this after the holidays. Regards, Vicki

Hmm. I got the book that I have a copy of in about 1980. I do not remember author or published date but it certainly had to be before 1997. How can I get a copy of the book you have? It may be the same book just a later date but it would still be easier to get a new one than look for the one I have-(probably quicker, too) Vicki

Information on John Dominick born Schohairie NY.

I have Application to join the DAR from a stepdaughter of my husband's grandmother, which was approved Oct 04 1978 and accepted Oct 15 1976, John Dominick who served in the Revolutionary War.
I will leave out the person applying in case she is still living.
Her mother was Jane Norton.
Jane's parents were Nelson R. Norton and Cora Jane (Hendrick) Dominick
Cora Jane's first husband was Lyman Dominick.( See below)
Lyman's parents were David Dominick and Ansta Wilcox.
David's parents were William Dominick and Elizabeth Scheil.
William's parents were John Dominick and Margaret Hall.
John's parents were John Dominique and a widow whose maiden name was Sophia Rickard.(married name Sternberg)
This John was born Isle De Rae, France about 1740and died Schohairie NY 6 Oct 1824.

I have the names of the two johns and williams children and who they married if anyone is interested.

She had her information a little mixed up on Cora Jane and Lyman Dominick. For some reason she left out Lyman. and I have information that I know is correct there.
Nelson Norton was married before he married cora Jane and had at least two sons.
This is what her information said:
Nelson R Norton born 15 July 1853 at Albert Lea Mn. and died at Pueblo colarado 17 July 1918 and his wife Aletta Dominick born 20 July 1854 at Greg NY.and died Fergus Falls Mn. 18 Aug 1895, married1 Oct 1874.
The said Aletta Dominick was the child of David dominick born 24 Feb 1821 at Schohairie NY.
Could Nelson Norton have married Aletta Dominick and when she died married her sister in law?

I'm confused but the earlier part is correct.

Please feel free to e-mail me if I can help.
Actually I am researching ancestors from Holland also, the Vanderveers/Vandiveers. I had came across the article on your Dominick ancestor and found it interesting so I posted it hoping that a Dominick researcher might find it of use to their research. I am glad that you came across it. Your family has played an important part in US history, that must be a lot of fun. Sadly my Vandiveers died out with my grandmother's death in June 0f 2002, so there will never again be another Vandiveer from our line. The last of our male Vandiveers died in 1972. My great Uncle, Clarence Arthur Vandiveer.

Hi Linda- You are right- he was not born in England nor were any of them from Illinois. They all were in the New York City/Philidelphia/Stamford Connecticut area from the early 18th century or earlier. There were three Dominick brothers who apparently were Hugenoitt(spelling?) they emigrated from Marsailles France to Holland and then to New York City. They orginally had a hat company and then as the brothers went their various ways one of them went into the securities business on Wall street as early as 1823. They were social players in New York right through to my Father's generation (Bayard 2nd) who was a Governor of the New York Stock Exchange and his brother Peter Hoyt Dominick who was a U.S. Senator from Colorado and then Ambassador to Switzerland during Gerald Ford's administration. All went to Yale for Generations including the Bayard that started this conversation.

I have a few fairly complete family histories compiled at verious generations ifoyu would be interested further. It's fascinating stuff.

Blessings- Ned Dominick
