Martha, I hope you still are looking up the Domkes. I have come across Charles Domke's father Phillip death cert. I also have his mother Barbara's death also. I also found a 1900 Census in Detroit with his family. Charlie is in the census. There should be a census for 1880, 1910, 1920 and 1930 for Phillip. Barbara died in 1900, Phillip did not die until 1934. If you are still looking e-mail me. Skychicken@dundee.net.

I have found a census for Phillip and Barbara Domke in 1900, Detroit. The census has Philip b. 1849, Barbara b. 1850, Thomas b. Jan 1879, Charles b. Sept 1879, Edward b. April 1887, George b. June 1888. It has that Philip and Barbara had 11 children and 9 were living. Does any one knows who the other 5 children are? They were living on Clark St. in Detoit. The census has Philip and Barbara married for 26 years. Hope this helps you

I noticed your last name was Ford and perhaps only by marriage, but I was cleaning out my grandmothers apartment and found an old Catholic bible for the 1800's with the name Ford in it. I asked my father and he said it was the nephew of my great-grandfather and they had no children so our side got it when they died. Just wondered about the possible name connection.

My Grandparents were Philip John and Lena Barbara Domke and they were born in 1913 and 1907 in the Detroit Area. Philip was the son of George and Rose Domke. My grandparents only had one son, my father Donald, and he was adopted in 1944.

I came across a 1900 Census of Philip and Barbara Domke. It list the children as Thomas b. Jan 1878, Charles b. Sept 1879, Edward b. April 1887, George b. June 1888. It list that Philip and Barbara had 11 children. 2 children died. I found the two that died. I was hoping that someone would have the names of the other 5 children. Can any one help. I found a John born June 1875 that is probally their child. Thanks

My great-great grandfather, August Domke, landed in New York on a steamer from Germany in 1867 or 1868. I know that his sons were carpenters and built several homes in Michigan where the whole family eventually ended up. Any chance you could send a pic of this model home? I have no idea if it could possibly have been built by my ancestors. It has definately peaked my interest tho.
Thanks, Beth

Dale, At the moment, I cannot be sure about Robert Domke.
My husband's family has not been good at keeping track of anyone except immediate family. I know that there was an uncle from Detroit that was a policeman. But I can't remember the name.

I do know that his great-grandfather came from Germany, and that some of the family lived in Melvindale, MI in the 20's/30's and maybe even much later than that. Maybe that will help you.

Should you find additional info, please let us know.

I have been researching this name for over (3) yrs. as it is my maiden name, if you could be bit more specific it would be of assistance to anyone reading message. Most of my family still resides in Wi., however I have found my ggrandfather Albert Domke was b. 1848/Germany, d. 1891/Chicago, (2) sons; Edward b. 1877/Chgo., d. 1936/Wi., and Morris b. 1871/perhaps Chgo., d. 1897/Wi. No idea of Albert Domke's siblings, parents, etc., as cannot determine what port he arrived and sailed from. Do you have any birth dates, place of birth, siblings, etc for your August or Henry, you w/find alot of Domke's in the Michigan area, none connect to my line however. Will be happy to compare any notes with you, thank you.

Judy, this is a long shot on this Domke surname. Have been researching my ggrandfather Albert Domke, b. Feb 1848 in Germany, d. 1891 in Chicago, m. to Anna Wesbower (can't get true spelling of her surname however.) Albert buried in Graceland Cemetery in Chicago, wife Anna died in Winnebago Cnty., Wi. abt. 1926. Seems she married at least twice after death of Albert Domke and moved to Wi. Albert and Anna Domke had (2) sons, Morris J. Domke 1871-1897, b. Chgo. d. Wi., Edward 1877-1936, b. Chgo. d. Wi. I have found naturalization papers, cemetery records, death certificate for Albert Domke 1848-1891, however no one in family remembers this man what so ever, I have to believe he had siblings, have any of above given names, etc., ever come up in your Domke surname quest. Thank you for your time and consideration of this message.
