My grandfather Herman Ralph Dommer/Dummer changed the last name to REED at some point. I am looking and would like and help please send email to tonygrhm@aol.com. Herman was born 8/28/1874 in Germany and came to live in IL probably thru a more northern state. He spoke of an Uncle/Father?? coming to visit from Wisc.? He settled in the Rockford area on a farm owned by the Whitaker family. (We believe he is in the cenus this way) He married 11/28/1901(Rockford, IL) Daisey Berksmith born 1879. There were 5 children from this marriage Clarence Reed, LeRoy Reed, Earl Harold Reed (my father), Gladys Reed Bucey, Edison Reed.
There seems to be some mystery about the parents John Dummer and Fredericka possibly deceased.
We have always thought he traveled with an adult relative or the parents died???Did they send him ahead and plan to join later?? Any help out there would be helpful
