I have been away from the geneology stuff for awhile. I am Curt's daughter- the eldest of his 2 children. I have a brother named Todd. Our dad passed away in 1986, and I got started on the geneology when my Aunt Dolly (Bob's first wife) sent me a copy of my grandparents' wedding picture. :) Would love to hear from you again! I live in Bemidji, MN and would love to have you look at some photos to help me identify my grandma's family. Thanks!

Christof Domres son Karl was married to Wilhelmina Sperling. Her parents were Frank Sperling and Mathilda Lick. My grandmother Emma Drajeska Lick was a full sister to Mrs. Frank Sperling. Other relatives are Frank Drajeska, Gottleib Sperling and his wife Pauline Gundmann. I'm rather new to Ancestry.com so it's been very interesting finding all of this information. Just happened to put in Christof Domres name. I'm pretty sure we are all related.
My grandparents were Julius Lick and Emma Drajeska, both were born in Russia. Grandma Lick
came to the United States in the fall of 1908 with several children, my Father was the first one born in the United States. They lives in Wales, North Dakota
Waiting to hear from you.

Shirley Davis - shirleyrd11@yahoo.com

fra the book: Langdon, ND Centennial Edition 1888-1988

AUGUST DOMRES Bio page 273

Pauline, daughter f August and Julianna Kuball, born 8 July 1888 at Berestowitz, Germany and came to Gretna, Manitoba with her parents when she was eight.

She remembers many of the hard times they endured when her family first came to the Dresden community. When they reached their farm there was a sod house but it had no doors or windows in it. The first summer was very rainy. The water soaked the sod and the rest ran through it. They took the oilcloth from the table and spread it over the bed to keep it dry.

Pauline also told how they coaxed their cow across the border at the U.S. Boundary because the custom officer told them they could not lead her across. She recalled that wheat sold for 35 cents per bushel, eggs were 5 cents a dozen, a day's work in the woods was 50 cents; shocking grain and pitching bundles earned the men $12.00 a month and a hired girl in a home which had nine in the family received $8.00 a month.

In 1899 she married August Domres and moved to their own homestead near Dresden. August, son of Christof and Elizabeth Wolf Domres, was born 15 Oct 1875 in Germany.

They had eleven children to this union:
Ida (Mrs Adolph Marchell) ;
Emelia (Mrs Emanual Rapske);
William Domres; Albert Domres;
Hilda (Mrs Charles Joachim);
Frank Domres; Walter Domres;
Elsie (Mrs Earl Herres);
Elma (Mrs Fred Metzler);
Charles Domres; Henry Domres.

August died 14 February 1931 and Pauline died 17 August 1972.
I am also of this line- my great great grandfather was Christof Domres (Dumries), married to Elizabeth Wolf. One of their many children was Julia(na) Suran born 25 October, 1877. My grandmother, Lillian Hilda Welch, was born in 1909. Can we touch base? That would be great!

I am a Domres. My Great Grandfather, Christof or Christopher came from Russia about 1890 to Canada and lived several years in Winkler, Manitoba Canada and then moved to North Dakota. I heard from a Perry Domres in Regina, Sask and he claims Christof had 2 brothers Freidrich and August. I have been unable to locate them.
Also my Grandfather was August Domres, he had brothers Frederick, Carl and Ludwig. Ludwig died at about age 21 from a hunting accident. There were two girls also, Caroline was married first to a Betker in Germany or Prussia and understand he died and she married Valentine Veroba, who came to this country and lived at Lampman, Sask. Another girl, Julianna, was married to Suran and they lived in ND also.
Perry Domres informed me his ancestry came from Posen and the name was spelled Domroese, then changed to Dumroese and finally Domres, by Paul Domres born 1818 in Poland.
I have most current ancestry information from Christof Domres to current, but have been unable to find anything beyond Christof, who was born in 1840.

My mother was a Domras. I also am intereseted in anything regarding that family. Christian Domreos was the name of both my great grand father and great great grand father.
My great Grandmothers name was Amelia Aschendorf and my great great grandmothers name was Florentina Bartz(?).
Anna Domeroes Fahse was a sister to my Great Grandfather she married Johann Fahse in Germany. I believe they came to America somewhere around 1863. New Kirchen was one name mentioned. There was also the name of Krey mentioned in the family. Anything you can refer me to would be helpful.
