Looking for info for John DONAHO,b. 1706-1781. I know that John DONAHO and wife Eleanor were located on Mudlick Creek. There seems to be several land deeds on Mudlick for John DONAHO from 1767-1772.
"Survey for John DONAHO pursuant to precept dated 5 NOV 1771: 300 acres in Craven County of waters of Mudlick Creek. "Bounded SE by JOHN DONAHOE and vacant land;E by James Burgess; NE by John Chestnut and vacant land; NW by John Philpot and vacant land. Survey certified 30 NOV. 1771, Jno Caldwell. D.S."
I assume John DONAHO is John and Eleanor. Who is John DONAHOE. Curious of the different spelling in the same deed? Or are they talking about the same John???
What is a Memorial? Haven't seen this before?
"Memorial" by John DONOHO: 150 acres survey cerified 1 JAN. 1771 and granted 10 JAN 1771. Quit rent to commence in two years from date. Signed 14 FEB 1771 by John DONAHO
"Memorial" by John DONNOHOE; 300 acres survey certified 300 acres survey certified 30 NOV. 1771 and granted 21 May 1772. Quit rent to commence in 2 years. Signed 3 AUG 1772 by James MaGill for the memorialist and delivered 10 DEC 1772. Jno Caldwell D.S.
Sure getting confused by the records I have been finding in this area. Are there 2 lines of Donahos in this area at this time. So far I have divided them between the John on Mudlick and John the Loyalist. Also William and William the Loyalist.
Sure could use some more info to shake this all out???
