Have you learned anything new re: your Donahoe line? Do you know the names of Catherine's parents? I have a Cornelius Donahoe born circa 1816, wife Margaret, both born in Ireland. I don't know if they came to this country or not. Their daughter Julia did. Julia was born circa 1846 (could be a younger sister to your Catherine). She married Michael Cadagan circa 1864 (I don't know if the marriage took place in Ireland or this country). A Dennis/Denis Donahoe was a witness to the marriage (? brother to Julia). Michael Cadagan was from Co. Cork. It is presumed that Julia was from Co. Clare--not confirmed. Any of this sound familiar?
Marie

Unfortunately, Quigley is not a direct line for me. My direct family line is Donahue which originated in Cherry Township, Sullivan County. Sisters Margaret and Anna Donahue married brothers George and Edward Quigley respectively. I could send you an email with all the information I have on these families. It may help in that they may be connected to your Francis. George and Margaret's first son born in 1880 was named Francis which probably came from the Quigley line. Reply with your email if you would like this information.
Hope this helps. Good Luck
Claire Moran

DONAHOE on U.S. Railroad Accidents Message Board

Did any of your DONAHOE ancestors work or travel on the railroads? Were any involved in train collisions or other mishaps? I have created a message board on Ancestry.com for U.S. Railroad Accidents. There is already at least one posting involving a DONAHOE.

PLEASE BE FOREWARNED THAT SOME OF THE NEWS ARTICLES ARE GRAPHIC in regard to horrible injuries and deaths. Railroading involved many dangers and gruesome tragedies over the years.

If you have news articles or stories regarding accidents that occurred on the railroads, in train depots, on train bridges, etc., please post them on the Railroad Accidents board along with ALL surnames involved. And be sure to check the board for your surnames. Stories will be added regularly. The new board is here:

Boards>Topics>Disasters>United States>Railroad Accidents

Go to main Message Boards Page.
Use the “Find a Message Board” box to search on Railroad Accidents, and follow the links to the board;
OR
Under topics click on “browse all topics.”
Click on Disasters.
Click on United States.
Click on Railroad Accidents.

If you think you’ll want to return to this category regularly, go to the Railroad Accidents message board and from just above the messages click on Add to Favorites or Add to Notifications. This will make it much easier to access the Railroad Accidents board on future visits to Ancestry.com.
I do not have any specific information on Anna C. Donahoe but I have been searching for two Donahoe family members who traveled "West" from Cherry Township, Sullivan County, PA sometime around 1872-1879. One of them is a Thomas Donahoe who was born in PA 1855. It is a far reach to think that Thomas could be Anna's father but it IS possible It is also possible that Thomas could be Anna's grandfather. Both Thomas and Anna are names that transcend generations in this family. Since her son's name was Thomas and it is common in Irish families to name the first son after the Mother's father, it could be that her father and her grandfather could be named Thomas. This is just a thread. If you find her father and hit a wall, consider this connection. The other Donahoe I am searching for who traveled "West" is Thomas's sister, Mary Elizabeth. Good luck in your search.
Claire Moran cmoran61@hotmail.com

Ford in 1900 in St. Louis, MO.
I found on the LDS website a Mary Donohoe, b. abt.1870 in Ohio to Patrick Donohoe and Hannah (Johannah) Lynch. They were born in Ireland, and died in St. Louis. Her siblings were Patrick, Michael, Ellen and Timothy. The time and place fit, but I'd like to know if this is her family. I'd also like to know of her other children & where her parents came from in Ireland.
I'd appreciate ANY help!
Martha

I am at an absolute dead end for going back any farther on John. The first place I can pick him up census wise and know I have the correct one is from 1860, in Wisconsin.

Hi,
My gg grandfather was John Donahoe, born 1842, in Ireland, came over between 1848 and 1850. I don't know anything more about how or where he came to the state, if he came with immediate family, friends or neighbors. But he married Mary Ann McGuin in 1867, in the Buffalo/Montello Twnshps, and Portage, WI area. They had eight kids, the oldest son was named Thomas. Sound like a possibility?

I am trying to trace my Donohoe and Burns ancestors. I know my great grandfather, Thomas Donohoe was born in County Roscommon, Ireland 1856-1858. He moved to the Manchester area in England some time prior to 1881. He married Mary Ann Burns in Manchester in 1881. Thomas Donohoe's father was Patrick Donohoe. We have no record of Patrick Donohoe leaving Ireland. Mary Ann's father was Luke Burns. Luke Burns and his wife, Mary, were also born in County Roscommon - Mary in Kilmore, Luke in Kilglas? (from 1881 census). They moved to the Manchester area before 1861.

Thanks,
Irene

I will appreciate any help anyone can give me.

Elizabeth Donahoe-Alex. Russell (N. Ireland)
I recently obtained a copy of my gg-grandmother's death certificate from Pennsylvania, and on it her mother's name is listed as Elizabeth DONAHOE. Previous incarnations of her surname on official documents were Donachie, McDunnoch, and Dunnoch.

From the other information I have, Elizabeth (I think Donahoe seems like the most likely surname) married Alexander Russell in Fermanagh County, (Northern) Ireland in late 1854/early 1855 (I've seen Dec 1854 and Feb 1855).

They had at least 4 children in Ireland (Mary ~1856, William ~1859, James A. ~1860, Annie Elizabeth 1861). They then moved to the Glasgow area of Scotland where they had 3 more children (Isabella 1867, Rosa ~1870, Thomas 1874).

In the early 1880's most of the family immigrated to Pennsylvania in the United States (I have ship manifests that list Mary and her husband Thomas Cox and children; Elizabeth Russell and her children William, Bella, Rosa, and Thomas; and James A. Russell).

According to Scotland census records, Alexander was born ~1835, and Elizabeth ~1837, both in Ireland.

Does anyone have any information on this family? I've got a fair amount about them on this side of the Atlantic, and even some from Scotland, but I'm nto sure where to begin in Ireland. I know in later years the family was Catholic...

GC
