My grandfather John O'Donohoe born in or around Spiddal was one of 3 siblings he had a brother Peter and another Seamus who may have been a poteen distiller. My grandfather emigrated to the US around married around 1889 to a Mary Lynskey went back to Galway and ran a grocery business at 3 Sea Road Galway where my father was born in 1911. A few years later my grandfather went back to being a farmer in Spiddal where my father was brought up. Hope this information helps. A strange coincidence is that my father emigrated to Melbourne in 1960 when I was eight we were living in Manchester England where I was born prior to that.

Hope this helps if there is a link.
