I am trying to find an old friend from high school, Michele Donato. She was originally from N.Y. but her family moved to Tampa, Fl. where we meet at the Academy of the Holy Names high school. We attended the Academy in the mid '80's. They moved back to N.Y. and we lost touch. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Kitty

DONATO MONTELEONE GLIOZZI families from CALABRIA

Hello, I am searching for further information on my great-grandfather FRANCESCO DONATO born in the 1870's (exact date unknown). He married Emilia Gliozzi in Plati, Reggio Calabria, Italy and they had two children together, Domenico (1903) and Rosina.

It is believed that he was originally from the Naples region. He migrated to America in the early 1900's (after 1904) where he later remarried and had more children in the USA.

His firstborn son (my grandfather) was DOMENICO DONATO born 1st December 1903 in Calabria, who immigrated to Australia on the ship Principe Di Udine which left Messina, Sicily in February 1928, arriving in Australia on the 23rd March, 1928. His sister Rosina remained in Plati, Italy.

Thankyou, Lindy Donato - Lindy@jacklands.com

Scipio or Scipione, Frank and Joseph came to the USA around 1895 or so. Sam had a son named Thomas who lived in Haverstrau? and Maria Rosa stayed in Italy and lived in Naples. Scipio came to Niagara Falls NY and married a Maria C. Scalise and they had children in Niagara Falls.

Donato DETROIT MI to LA CANADA CALIFORNIA

I am searching for descendants of Samuel Donato who applied for his SS number in MI. Born 1913 he died in La Canada, Flintridge, CA in 1979. He married Virginia Biegalski in Detroit (but her step-father raised her and her brothers so she took the last name of Kabala, her step=father's name).

Virginia is still living in California but my great uncle will not release her phone and address and it is unlisted. She is about 87 now, daughter of Jennie Malinowski and John Biegalski. She had brothers Edward and Arthur (who changed his name to Anthony after his step father but was nicknamed Archie). Have just found that Viriginia's husband was named Samuel. Hoping she had children and grandchildren. I don't know why my great uncle won't release her address (he's a RC priest - privacy thing?).

Linda
http://www.geocities.com/jomilu2001

Pauline writes similar message to both girls: "Went to New York yesterday and saw Frank Sinatra in 'Step Lively'. Not bad - that man can sing." Pauline says to Teresa, "sorry you're in the dog house." Pauline apparently did not know Mickey well.
Would like to hear from anyone interested. Steve, NY

Whoa, I never knew there could be so many Donato's!!
Bennie Donato moved to the US from Italy (Sicily I think) and settled in Philadelphia. All his brothers and sisters immigrated to australia (including my grandparents) Bennie has passed away, but apparently had 2 sons and a daughter, who would probably be in their 60's now. Their names are John, Peter, and Mary Donato.
My grandmother has also passed away, but her sister Janet is really eager to find out something about John, Peter, and Mary and their lives, before she passes away too (she's old!!)So if anybody could help me I would be delighted!!!

Oh, also Bennie was married to Connie Bricanti (John, Peter, Mary's mum)who I assume may also be dead.

Good luck in your respective searches, and Hi from down under!!!
alana

Lived in Los Angeles area during early 1900's.
Thanks
Nan Cebulski (granddaughter of Anna Donato, oldest girl, born 1888 Italy)

A.Z. Donato--Actor

I have an old book written by A.Z. Donato sometime in the early 1900's. It has several pictures of A.Z. Donato in costume and it seems he was a one-legged actor who performed all over Europe, Asia, and North America probably in the late 1800s.

This book is written in Czech & was published in Chicago, but has no publishing date. (Aso, I don't read or understand Czech). I do not have family ties to any Donato family but was just curious if anyone knows of this actor. I see he performed in Wisconsin & my Czech grandparents were from Wisconsin so possibly they saw him perform and bought the book.

Original Women of Color

Am seeking reliable info on the original women of color in the Donato line. Specifically, Marie Jeanne Taillefert, Nanette St Laurent and Marianne Duchesne (Castillon). I do not consider Brasseaux's book to be correct in its particulars about these women. Looking for original source info. Does anyone have ages, birth status, id of person who freed them, etc. Would dearly love to engage in communication with anyone with real interest or info. Will respond to post.

My grandfather, Luigi Donato, came to Western New York (Niagara Falls) from Gimigliano, Calabria in the 1920s. I don't know a whole lot more about his family other than from where he came. He married Mary Paonessa; had 7 children (Rose, Josephine, Marjorie, Louis, Sam, Pauline, Marie). Louis was my dad (he passed away in 1959). Rose and Marie live in Las Vegas, NV with their families.

Anyone have any insights or suggestions?

Lou Donato

Looking to trace my family roots to Marcellinara CZ.
My great, great grandmother was Concetta Maviglia who married Francesco Scerbo. They had a daughter Josephine, one of six , I believe, including Antonio Luigi, Carlo, Mary, and Giovannni. Josephine married Anthony Chiarella in 1906 had 13 children, one of whom was my grandmother Rose Chiarleea-Peluso. I understand Francesco was some sort of railroad engineer who traveled frequently to Egypt.

Any additional info would be appreciated.

looking for information on the surname Donato

Hi everyone! I am glad to know there are many Donato's. The reason I want to find out information on this surname is because my Great-grandfather was Rafael Donato. My Grandmother tells me her father Rafael was Italian. My grandmother was born in Mexico because her father Rafael moved to Mexico and Married my greatgrandmother Marcelina who was Mexican. Well my grandmother married my Grandfather who was Mexican and so we all ended up loosing the Italian culture. We now only follow the Mexican culture of course we are Mexicans. I was born in Texas in the United States, but I carry on my Mexican roots everywhere I go. But I would also like to know about my other side, the Donato. Well I know I already made a big story but if you could help me to know more about the last name Donato I would greatly apreciate it. Thank You in advance.

Donato family search

Heres the deal my grandma Margaret Fucci who recently passed away's maiden was Donato, Im almost positive. Her mother was from Naples italy, my grandma was born in 1929, she lived in Jamaica queens,(NY) She had four kids, I think she had more but they were miss carraiges, until there was a fire in the house then at that point she moved to Far Rockaway Queens,in the 70's, I think at that point she lost contact with her family or maybe even earlier, she had brothers and sisters not sure how many though, I'm almost positive she had a sister by the name of Elizabeth and or Victoria, Victoria could have been her niece or cousin Im not sure. I think she had a brother named Frank also, she got married to a man by the name of Edward. He died at an early age I think from a heart attack. If any of this sounds familiar or if u can help me find my back family please contact me I need all the help I can get. Thanks

Marcellinara Families

Salve,My mother's family comes from Marcellinara. Her father was Saverio Donato(Maccalano) and her mother was Felicina Maviglia(Il lattaio). We also have Scerbo,Caiola, Maraziti in the family tree.
As for the origin of the Scerbo name I also heard that it came from the work for Serbo and that this could have been through the Albanian settlements in Southern Italy around the end of the 15th century. I have also been to the village twice to do research
I traced the Donato family back to 1792 since the civil records were started in 1805 by Napolianic law. I hope to return this coming year to do more research and hopefully check out the church records. Please let me know if anyone is out there with whom I could exchange information or might be part of my family tree. Thanks, Alfredo
