Donleys from Arkansas by way of Illinois.

I am looking for the Donley family from Desha Arkansas. I believe they arrived in Arkansas sometime between 1870 and 1880. I think they came from Illinois. The last record I can find is the 1880 census listing Kate Donley as the mother born 1830 in Ireland with children Johnny,19, Patrick,15, Mary, and Bueford. It does not list the father, I know that he died early, but don't know when or how. The children were all born in Illinois or at least thats what the 1880 census says. I believe the father's name was Patrick or John Patrick. There is an immigration record from Ireland to New York in 1851 for a Patr. Donley born 1829 with wife Catherine Donley born 1830. I believe this may be them, but am not sure. Can anyone help?

Donleys in Fond du Lac Wisconsin.

James and Mary Dorcey Donley (Donelly, etc.) came from Ireland about 1860 or so. They came with two children, Brigit and Michael. I found the land records as well as the divorce records for the couple. It looks like the divorce was never granted, but Mary moved to Dakota Territory in the late 1870s with her two sons. John, the youngest, bought/inherited the Fond du Lac house in 1879, supposedly when James died. However, I cannot find where James died or where he was buried. There is no record of his death or burial in Fond du Lac's records or in Wisconsin Cemetery lists that I can find. Has anyone found anything about James Donoly/Donley since about 1870?

OBIT Ann Pauline Bailey Donley 1926-2008

NOTE: I DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS INDIVIDUAL. JUST POSTING THE OBITUARY ON ANN DONLEY FROM THE COLUMBUS (OH) DISPATCH 5/3/08

Ann Pauline Bailey Donley, 81, beloved mother of Belinda Donley, Susan Donley, and Nancy Sofer and cherished grandmother of Ryan Donley, Jonathan Sofer, and Jennifer Karp and great-grandmother of Jacob and Sarah Karp, passed away on April 23, 2008, at Riverside Methodist Hospital with family members at her side. She was preceded in death by her first husband John, by her sister Ruby Dowdy and her brothers Ross, William, and Charles Bailey; and by her granddaughter Jennifer who died this past March from the effects of ALS. Ann was born in 1926 in Russell, KY to Effie and Roscoe Bailey. She grew up and raised her family in South Point, OH and worked for many years in the Allied Chemical Corporation's cafeteria. She moved her family to Columbus, OH in 1960 and began a long period of employment as a waitress at the Clarmont Steakhouse where she was a much-valued friend to both customers and staff. She retired from the Clarmont in 1996 and began working as an office assistant at Columbus State Community College and as a caregiver for Alpha Elder Care. She reluctantly gave up both of those jobs in 2005 when she suffered a serious stroke. After making a complete recovery from the stroke, she joined a quilting group at the Barber Roselea Senior Center and found much purpose and enjoyment in the many sessions she attended there. She also loved cats, and derived great pleasure in recent years from being involved with Cat Welfare's "kitten fostering" program. Since 1998 she had struggled with various heart-related health problems, and these eventually led to her death. But throughout the struggle, she maintained a positive attitude and was a joy and an inspiration to all who were lucky enough to know her. Her family and many friends have suffered an unfathomable loss with her passing. May her memory be blessed.

I would like to make connections with people researching the Donley family in Lebanon Co. in the early to mid 1800's.
The 1840 census lists a William Donley and James Donley. There is no information on the children or spouses listed.
Hugh and Sarah Donnelly had a son in 1837 named William. Baptized at Salems Lutheran Church. William's last name was also spelled Donley. I understand the parents died and William and his siblings had to be adopted out. The Shiner family kept William and lived in South Lebanon and the Cornwall area. Would like to know William's siblings and his parents Hugh and Sarah Donnelly

Hi Dean, yes I'm still interested. I've traced both sides of the family back a couple generations. I'll give you a little history for my interest. McClelland Donley and Louisa Roberts are my great grandparents. Their daughter Lydia is my grandmother. Lydia married my grandfather Thomas Frederick Robinson. They had 4 children - Helen, Willa, Elizabeth and my father Franklin Edward Robinson. Lydia died 1 week after giving birth to my father - complications from childbirth. The family moved from Green Co., Penn. to Akron Ohio when my father was about 6 years old and lost touch with the Donley side of the family. My father has vague memories of his grandfather, aunts and uncles but can't really fill in any gaps of possible cousins or extended family. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to hearing from you. Terry.

James Donley and Martha Ewing - St. Georges de Henryville, Quebec, Canada

Hi boarders! (and listers),

I am a Ewing researcher. I have obtained a copy of a will written about the 1860's of a Martha Ewing, who was the wife of James Donley. They had a farm in St. Georges de Henryville, Quebec, Canada.

My mom has the will at the moment, reading it over, so I can't yet post the children mentioned in the will. I will do that when I get it back from her. I just wanted to start this thread in the meantime.

I am connected to the Ewing's of that area and time, but this Martha, as far as I can tell so far, it not of my family. I would be interested to chat with some descendants of this couple to see if we can make a connection.

Cheers
Tammy
BC Canada
ancestry@ripandrevmedia.ca
