Donnell men are strongly encouraged to join the Clan Donald DNA Project. Most of the 637 men whose DNA test results are already posted on the results tables for the project have names that are or can be variants of the name MacDonald. McDonnell is a variant of MacDonald, and Donnell is another possible variant. Donnell men may join the project, whether they suspect that their Donnell family was originally a Donnell family or not.

This is a very good time to join the project, because competition in the DNA testing field has been very intense recently, and some promotions have featured deep discounts. Some of these deep discounts are still available, but are slated to end soon. Donnell researchers who have been considering DNA testing for their Donnell lines may find it worthwhile to arrange it before these offers expire.
