Family of Ellie O'Donoghue

I'm looking for info regarding the Irish family of Ellie Theresa O'Donoghue (b. 1895, Shinnagh, Rathmore, County Kerry; d. 1982 in Buffalo, NY). She came to the US in 1920 and married Corneilus O'Leary. Ellie's parents were Patrick John O'Donoghue (b. 1861) and Catherine (Kate) Kelleher (b. 1862). Both parents were from County Kerry, but I don't know any more information. Any help would be appreciated.

craig-watson@comcast.net

My great great grandaunt, Margaret Donoghue married Martin( may also be known as Maurice) Sheehy in 1861...together they had at least four children, John(1862), Jeremiah(1872), Anna(1868)and Mary(1866)...Martin and Margaret were married in the Parish of Causeway but they lived in Dromartin both being in North Kerry. I cannot find parents or children in the 1901 census so they either died or emigrated...if anyone is researching this family I'd appreciate hearing from them.

I am looking for information, in relation to Robert Donoghue. Hi father was James Donoghue. Robert married Mary O'Connor in 1914 at St Silas Church, Penton Street, Clerkenwell. Robert would have been born around 1885. Robert and Mary had a daughter, that i know of, Mary Rose, who was born in 1924. Their address at the time is shown as 17 Rodney Residences, Finsbury. Robert has signed his marriage banns, as a soldier in the Border Regiment based at Shoeburyness, althought i have found other military papers, where he is signing up for the Royal Garrison Atrillery in 1915

I'm searching for any information that somebody may have on William E. Donoghue. He was my grandfather but I'm having trouble finding information on his parents. He was born on 17 Feb 1897 and died 6 Oct 1983. He married Marie Donoghue (yes, same last name) but not sure of the date. Any help is appreciated.

Patrick Donoghue family, Truxton, New York

I have no connection to these families. This appeared in the Friday, August 13, 1852 issue of the Rockland (Maine) Gazette:

“TERRIBLE TRAGEDY. The Syracuse Journal gives the details of a double murder in the town of Truxton, N.Y. A daughter of Patrick Donoghue had been missing for several days, and he asserts that she had been stolen by Mrs. Kinney. Mrs. Kinney, in company with her daughter, meeting Donoghue near his house, she remarked to him that she did not believe he would ever see his daughter again. Upon this, Donoghue went into his house, and immediately came out with a shot gun in his hand, and accompanied by his wife, who had a rifle. He followed after Mrs. K., and coming up with her struck her a blow with the butt of his gun on the back of the head, which felled her to the ground, and as she fell, he struck her another blow which broke her neck. He then snatched the rifle from his wife, and shot the daughter of Mrs. Kinney, dead. Donoghue was shortly arrested, when his son discovered to the officers the whereabouts of the missing child. She had been confined by her inhuman father in a hole under a large stone, on a neighboring hill. When the child was brought into her father’s presence, he demanded that his hands might be liberated, so that he could kill her. He is considered perfectly sane.”
Hi, I've also a Mortimer b 1853 son of Cornelius & Ellen, all his siblings b in Abbeyfeale just over the border of Kerry. The family moved by the 1911 census possibly before 1901 as well. Haven't been able to refind them. Was in Abbeyfeale 2009 found the impressive headstone of Con & Ellen and no others. Was told it signified that they "had" money, which they didn't have whilst living there.Have photo headstone which can be forwarded on supply of email address. I'd appreciate any help finding the family as currently at a loss/deadend.
Ralph

Wish I could help you, and I will keep a look out, but I am looking for origins in Ireland of Dennis Donoghue 1 and his wife Ellen or Eleanor Donoghue. Dennis 1 was "a sailor lost at sea" and thereafter Ellen migrated from Barnsley, Yorkshire, England (where was she in Ireland before that? is the ultimate question) with her son Dennis Donoghue 2 to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA in either 1824 or 1834. Ellen was buried in the St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church cemetery in 1857. That church's first priest was Rev.Terrence J. Donaghoe (native of Aughnacloy, Co Tyrone)-- could he have been related to her deceased sailor? But Dennis 2 married in Methodist church in 1841 a Jane Sergeson from County Down who had emigrated in 1830s to Philadelphia with her parents and siblings.
Ellen's cemetery deed also spells her name Donahoe, Donogho.

I have since found a marriage record for John Donoghue and Mary Shea. The marriage occurred in 1892 in Holyoke, MA.
John and Mary had 5 children only one of whom( Hanora Mary Donoghue) lived to adulthood. I've found the family in the 1900 Holyoke census living at 13 Chestnut St in Holyoke. I believe that I've found the same family living at 37 Mosher St in 1920. Couldn't find any of them in the 1910 census.

I'm still looking for the other siblings, Johanna, Ellen, James and Margaret either in Ireland or in the US.

Jeremiah was born in 1865. He emigrated to Holyoke, MA in 1888 or 1889 and he married my great grandmother Catherine Barrett in Holyoke in March of 1892.

I'm looking for any information on Jeremiah's siblings who were John(1867), Johanna(1868), Ellen(1871), James(1872) and Margaret(1875). So far, I have yet to determine whether any of the siblings emigrated or whether they remained and made their lives in Drommartin.

Anyone familiar with this family ?

What a nice suprise to have someone reply to my query! Thank you! It does not mention, "Mein" in the birth cert. Denis Murphy was indeed a Farmer and yes it would be over 100 years ago as my Grandfather (his son, John) was 99 years older than me. I would be glad to scan the birth cert and email you a copy.
I went to Castleisland in 2005 with my Sister but was only able to spend an afternoon there. At the time of my visit I did not have as much information as I do now. I would love to be able to find my Great Grandparent's burial site and pay my respects.
Would be delighted to have any information you could share.

Hi there! I live in Dublin but come from Knocknagoshel. Does it mention Mein in the birth cert? (this is a townland in Knocknagoshel parish - adjacent to Castleisland parish). 'Though a few generations down ....... there is a Dennis Murphy (farmer, about 62 yrs) living there. I go down there regularly and will eventually retire there. Best of luck on your search.
Regards,
GC.
