Bereft of Reason

San Antonio, September 27 - T. B. Donohue, well-known in Texas railway circles, having served in an official capacity with the Texas & Pacific railway for a number of years, left this city several weeks ago on a prospecting tour of Mexico. All trace of him had been lost until yesterday, when the news reached here of the pitiable plight to which he had been reduced at Tampico. He was bereft of reason there a few days ago, and was taken in charge of by friends, who intended to bring him back to Texas. Pending the start for home Donohue escaped his keepers and was found wandering along the wharves on the gulf front. A Mexican policeman attempted to arrest him. Donohue, by a powerful blow, knocked the officer into the water and drowned him. A squad of police then surrounded the infuriated maniac and were met with desperate resistance. Donahue was shot several times and received other wounds, which it is feared will result in death. His wife and daughter here were prostrated by the news.
