My parents emigrated to Australia in Oct 1952. The books you refer to are possibly the same as mine. I have an update including my eldest son richard in 1987. I think they were the first "Dopheide" to arrive in Australia from Holland. My fathers family is from Groningen. The book reers to the family as O'ppede also d'oppede and goes back to 640 AD. A province of Frankreich is also referred to. Unfortunately i cannot speak or read dutch or german but this is what I can glean from the names. The pope bit I think refers to Pope Paul iv in 1552 ad.
