Hello:

I am trying to find out where Maud Emma Dopson, nee Handicott ended up after 1920. I can not find death or burial records on FreeBMD for her in either name so I am going to assume she immigrated elsewhere.

She would have relations in England and Australia, and posssibly in New York.

Maud was born Uxbridge England Jan 14 1892 and married Frederick Thomas Dopson, who filed for divorce in 1919 but it appears she did not grant him one and his new wife, Emma legally changed her last name to match her husbands.

Maud apparently had a lover named David Floyd or Floyd David - the documents are confusing at best. She may or may not have been able to remarry and may or may not have continued a relation with this man....

Any help locating her would be appreciated.

Dorothy,
The brothers and sisters you mentioned were the children of Garfield and Maggie Taylor Dopson. Garfield was the son of Little Berry Dopson and Julia Hays. Little Berry was the last son of William Greenberry and his wife, Rebecca Castleberry.
William was the son of Andrew and Martha Mathews Moore.
Hope that helps. The book you refer to does not have this info, but it did help me on my way to research this family. The lady who had it passed away in 2004. George may have an extra book but I don't and not sure there are any. Paula Perry may have more knowledge of the books. Sue
Am looking for a family member who has connections to these men. There also was a sister who lived in Ca. but has died, I believe. If they are in the book , you may send me copies (20) and I will send you the money to pay for copies, providing it won't cost me a arm and leg. LOL
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Sherri,

Hello. The Dopson's of Woodbury, NJ are my mom's mom's family. My great grandfather was Walter Dopson (1881) whose father was Fenwick (1857) whose father was John (1832). They all lived in Woodbury and I still live 10 minutes away in Clarksboro, NJ. I've got loads of info on my Dopson's and wonder if they are your line as well (gotta think they are). Are you decended from William the Constable's line (seems to have been more prolific)? Very much looking forward to trading info. with you! Please feel free to call if you would like at 856-423-6616 or e-mail at rgilliam@comacast.net

Sorry that it has taken me so long to reply to your message. I simply have not checked the site in a year or so. I did receive your letter that was sent to my parents address. Do you know approximate times as to when our lineage immigrated to the U.S. and where from? Just curious. I think it is really neat that you have spent so much time finding all of this information. It all seems overwhelming. It is also neat knowing that I have a distant cousin out there I never knew about! I am the youngest of five, and have enjoyed sharing your letter with my siblings, as well as my father, Robert Joseph Dopson II. Thank you for your help, and any additional findings you might come across I would greatly enjoy hearing.

JOSEPH R. DOPSON -- 1770 SC

Seeking parents of Joseph R. Dopson, b. ca. 1770 in SC, probably in Beaufort/Barnwell area. He m. Rebecca Davis, b. ca 1766 in Beaufort. I have that his father was Joseph Dopson, b. ca. 1745, d. 1792 in SC. His mother is unk. Confusing everything is the presence in the same area one Joseph Dobson, about the same age as my Joseph R. Dopson. Frequently, someone I know to be Dopson is listed as Dobson, so I'm never sure which Joseph I'm looking at. In the early census records, frequently only one is listed, but in some years both are, in two different places. Can someone help me solve this puzzle?
