Doré names in Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery, Montréal, P du Q

Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery
4601 Côte-des-Neiges Road
Montreal QC
H3V 1E7

The Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery was founded over 150 years ago, since 1854. It contains precious heritage resources, now protected by legislation passed by
the City of Montreal, the Province of Quebec and the Government of Canada.
Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery was created on property purchased from Dr. Pierre Beaubien, the new cemetery was a response to growing demand at a time when the old Saint-Antoine Cemetery (near the present Dominion Square) had become too small to serve Montreal’s rapidly increasing population.
Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery is the largest cemetery in Canada and the third-largest in North America.

This compilation of the family of Doré file is an alphabetical list, sorted into Name, then Section, then Plot number, then Year of Inhumation. Names with '-----', are
buried in the same plot, so they may be family members.

More research of other names can be done at:
http://www.notredamedesneigescemetery.ca/en/research/
*************************

Name: Alberta Doré
Date buried: 30/07/1913
Section: B Lot: 00564
------
Name: Alfred Doré
Date buried: 15/06/1974
Section: B Lot: 05130

Name: Albertine Doré
Date buried: 20/02/1979
Section: B Lot: 05130
--------
Name: Armand Doré
Date buried: 05/04/1911
Section: B Lot: 02167

Name: Alvares Doré
Date buried: 15/12/1925
Section: B Lot: 02167

Name: Albina Doré
Date buried: 08/10/1971
Section: B Lot: 02167
-------

Name: Albine Doré
Date buried: 31/01/1933
Section: B Lot: 01403

Name: Amanda Doré
Date buried: 13/03/1948
Section: B Lot: 03176

Name: Arthur Doré
Date buried: 12/08/1939
Section: B Lot: 02822

Name: Doré Joseph Real Guy
Date buried: 01/05/1954
Section: B Lot: 05059

Name: Anita Doré
Date buried: 30/05/1983
Section: F Lot: 01033
-----
Name: Doré M Julie Sara
Date buried: 15/03/1895
Section: F Lot: 00052

Name: Doré J Edouard Romeo
Date buried: 20/03/1895
Section: F Lot: 00052
-----

Name: Agathe Doré
Date buried: 23/10/1966
Section: FT Lot: 01966

Name: Archie Doré
Date buried: 04/06/1968
Section: FT Lot: 01968

Name: Anatole Doré
Date buried: 20/01/1968
Section: GA Lot: 03629

Name: Arthur Doré
Date buried: 19/01/1954
Section: GA Lot: 02052

Name: Adee Doré
Date buried: 12/04/1944
Section: H Lot: 00917

Name: Aime Doré
Date buried: 19/06/1963
Section: H Lot: 0000

Name: Adelaide Doré
Date buried: 13/01/1960
Section: I Lot: 0128

Name: Audelie Doré
Date buried: 27/04/1956
Section: I Lot: 01617

Name: Doré Rose De Lima
Date buried: 05/04/1929
Section: I Lot: 01026

Name: Alma Doré
Date buried: 20/11/1941
Section: I Lot: 01286

Name: Aime Doré
Date buried: 15/01/1949
Section: N Lot: 02709

Name: Alain Doré
Date buried: 04/06/1992
Section: N Lot: 06300

Name: Albine Doré
Date buried: 23/05/1978
Section: N Lot: 00429G

Name: Alphonsine Doré
Date buried: 05/12/1927
Section: N Lot: 00599
-----
Name: Amable Doré
Date buried: 18/10/1884
Section: N Lot: 00792

Name: Antonio Doré
Date buried: 14/11/1900
Section: N Lot: 00792
-----

Name: Arthur Doré
Date buried: 31/05/1938
Section: N Lot: 03029

Name: Auguste Adrien Doré
Date buried: 01/09/1896
Section: N Lot: 00799

Name: Arthur Doré
Date buried: 03/11/1977
Section: ND Lot: 06592

Name: Aglaee Doré
Date buried: 13/09/1951
Section: O Lot: 00392

Name: Ada Doré
Date buried: 18/03/1952
Section: P Lot: 0030

Name: Adelard Hilaire Doré
Date buried: 13/05/1889
Section: P Lot: 01382

Name: Alexandre Doré
Date buried: 18/10/1944
Section: P Lot: 00079

Name: Arthur Doré
Date buried: 15/06/1892
Section: P Lot: 01552

Name: Anonyme Doré (Anonyme means 'unnamed', usually used for stillbirths)
Date buried: 08/10/1972
Section: PF Lot: 01972
-----
Name: Alphonse Doré
Date buried: 02/01/1951
Section: R Lot: 01601

Name: Armand Doré
Date buried: 10/02/1954
Section: R Lot: 01601
-----
Name: Doré Jos.
Re: Gustave Dore'

I think we must be speaksing of two different persons.....
see below:

In the biography "GUSTAVE DORé", by Joanna Richardson, published in 1980, by Cassel of London, it is noted that "The DORERs (for the name once had a German spelling) were an Alsatian family (German). The name was francified to Doré. Doré's grandfather had been an officer in Napoleon's army, and he had been killed at Waterloo. Doré's father:
Pierre-Louis-Christophe Doré, had been brought up by his widowed mother. He attended Ecole polytechnique in Strasbourg and became a Civil Engineer. By 1829 he was an engineer (second class) in the Departments des Ponts et Chaussées; that year, at the age of 27, he married Alexandrine-Marie-Anne Pluchart. Her family, also Alsatian, were prosperous bourgeois from Schirmeck in the Vosges; and her mother, it is said, was known for her beauty. They already had a son named Ernest Doré, when, at six o'clock in the morning of 6 Janvier 1832, Alexandrine gave birth to:
Louis-Auguste-Gustave Doré, born at 5 (now #16) rue de la Nuée Bleue, in Strasbourg. He had a younger brother named Emile."
Gustave Doré never married, nor left any known descendants. On January 20th 1883, GUSTAVE suffered a severe stroke, from which he did not recover. At half-past twelve on the morning of the 23rd of January, a Tuesday, at the age of 51, he died. He is buried at Pere-Lachaise in Paris, next to his mother.
DORE, DOREY, DORA

Our family records state that a john Dore was born in berkshire near london between 1700-1730 and came to Maryland before 1750. The only records I can find for this family in the U.S. is under Dorey, and later in 1797 Dora. Anyone researching these surnames please contact me. Sincerely Tiffany Luchetta

I have been researching a Devereux family in Shoreditch and found that the wife and sons of James Devereux(1841 census) changed their name to "Davey" (1851 census)and finally two of the sons, William b.c.1830 and Richard b.c.1836 changed again to "Dores" or "Dore" (1861 census) In 1861 William J.Dores is living with his mother Mary Ann Devereux in Shoreditch. The third son Henry b.c.1839 went back to his original name of Devereux.
Dore / Dorie / Doree - Glengarry and Parry Sound???

Our great grandfather, Telesphore Louis Dorie/Dore/Doree/etc. (born:1880), married Adelima Gayer De Belisle in Glengarry, ON, and started a family (children: Alexandre, Victoria, Loretta, Emma, Alice, Florence, and Louis). We have found all/most of Telesphore's siblings (Mary Elisebeth born:1865, John William born:1873, Margret born1875, Mary Josephine born:1878, Ann Matilda born:1885) but we can't find any solid record of their parents (our great great grandparents). We believe the father was Stanislaus (aka Stanis or Thomas) Dorie/Dore/Doree/etc. and the mother was Amelia Lagnon, but the spelling changes from one child birth record to another. We think Stanislaus came to Glengarry from the Parry Sound, ON, area and that he died either on or before the year 1908. If anyone has any information (or maybe just thinks they might) we would be VERY grateful for any help we could get! Thank you and good luck in your own searches!

Thank you, Robyn. I have no idea about Frank's parents or if he had siblings. The family story says that he had lots of siblings and they moved around a lot. He was supposedly the oldest, born in Boston, and the family moved steadily west over the years. Frank "came to the area (Missouri)" when he was 14. Back then, that was the age he would have been apprenticed or started his adult career. He was a minor by trade. Joy

i have been researching the DORE's from Wychwood in Oxfordshire. When i went through the 1861 census for that area, i came across William DORE. I could not fit him into my tree as he moved to the area from Wiltshire. The census shows William aged 56 (ie born 1805)born in Calne, Wilts. His family are wife Mary (1807), children; Fanny (1843), James (1845), John (1847.
I would be interested if you had any other info on him, maybe he will fit into my DORE family from BOX, Wilts,
regards
colin

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I do have further information. Frank Dore (according to his obit) was born in Boston. Family oral history states he was French Canadian. I have not confirmed that. After a year of looking, I found that his wife's name was Anna Laura Reighley, and have connected with Reighley (Raley) researchers. Frank Dore's obit is posted on the USGENWEB Audrain County, Missouri website if you'd like to see it. He stated he "came to the area" in 1886. (He would have been 14 years old, and I can find NO evidence of any other Dore's in that area. His early years and parents/siblings are still a complete mystery to me, and I have not found his name on the 1880 census records.

Places: Boston, Audrain County, MO, KY, St. Louis City
Dates: 1872, 1899, 1935

Dore - John and Clara emigrated to Canada in 1901

John Dore (B. 1871) and his wife Clara (nee Herwitt Ford B.Abt 1870)were born in England and moved to a suburb near Montreal in 1901. They had two children in England, Joseph (B.1897) and Samuel (B.1900) in Leicestershire, these children were left in England when they went to Canada. They had four more children whilst in Canada, John (B.1901), Lailly (B.1902), Bonee (B.1905) and Harry (B.1907). I picked them up on the 1911 Census, living in Rang St Theresa, Chambly & Vercheres.

I have been unable to find any other information about the family. If anyone can help I would be very much appreciated.

Regards
Mary

Thanks for your message. The Dore family I am interested in lived in Dunton Bassett, Leicestershire, England upto 1901 when the emigrated to Canada. If that matches up with any of your records, I would love to hear from you.

Good hunting

Regards
Mary

Sam Dore married Alice Ann Furby July 1901 in Rotherham

Sam Dore was my grandad on my mother's side. Possible birth 1876. His father was Thomas, could have been born in Holme, York in 1842. No record of Thomas after 1871 Census when it shows he was "in service" in Chelsea. No record found of marriage or death.

There is a record of Thomas Dore in Dunton Bassett, Leicestershire married to Betsey Gudgeon who had a son, Sam, born 1876.

I have no knowledge of where my great grandad and my grandad originally came from. Only informtion passed down was that my grandmother Alice Ann Furby was born in Thirsk in 1879.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Michael K. Dore

I am researching the Dore family of Ireland. I have very few clues. The information that I do have, is that of my gg grandfather. His name was Michael K. Dore of Ireland. He must have emmigrated to the Americas prior to 1850. He married Margaret scanlan in Natchez Mississippi in 1857. The only document I have been able to find is their marriage license issued by the county clerks office. Margaret Scanlan must have also emmigrated from Ireland around the same time. Basically prior to the marriage, i can't find anything. They did have a son William Dore born in 1860 in Mississippi. I was able to find William on a US census in 1880 listing the birthplace of both of his parents as I reland. Thanks for any assistance given.

Jon Dore
