My mom is a Dorer and she was born in 1938.She also has a brother Gerald Dorer and he was born in 1936.Her mother was Celelcia Finnegan and she married Charles Dorer.He was born about 1915.Any relations to you?

Also, there were several other children, including Ernest Dorrer (1889-1973), Rueben Dorrer (1892-1987), Raymond George Dorrer (1926-2000), and Ethel Dorrer.

Helen Dorrer's husband was Charles Doetsch.

And Lester Dorrer passed away in 1974.

Anna Dorrer's parents were Harmon Gerken and Margaret Hoesch, my second great grandparents.

Dorer (Dorrer) family of Callicoon, New York

I am researching my mother's side of the family, one of which is the Dorrer line from Callicoon, New York.

Anna (born 1868) and George Dorrer (born 1860) lived in Callicoon, NY in 1920. They had two children at the time, Lester (born 1907) and Helen Dorrer (born July 11 1904). I know Helen got married, changed her name to Helen D. Doetsch and passed away in April of 1987. I do not know about anything about Lester Dorrer.

Also, I believe a Kahthryn Dorrer (age 73 in 1920) is related somehow, as she is also listed on the census as the mother in law to a Rose Hulen(sp?) and Louis Hulen.

Trying to find any info on Evelyn Mae Schaefer married to James Elsworth Dorer. Location New Jersey had 7 kids. James Jr., Henry E., Richard, Arthur John, Elizabeth, Doris, Joyce. Think her parents names were Henry & Marrase Schaefer of Irvington NJ. Sister was Doris Mcmane of Texas.

My ggrandfather Mathias Dorer came to the United State is 1855. I have two places that he could have immigrated from:
Untersimonwald or Baden Baden. I am not aware of any siblings, but I have not been sucessful with any research for family information in Germany. So there might be a connection. I do know that my ggrandfather was a member of the Order of the Mystic Shrine of New York City. So we have a New York City connection as well as the Port Jervis connection. I will let you know if I find any connections.

Hi! My mother is a Dorer. Her great-grandparents came from Germany in 1886. Their names were Joseph and Teresa Dorer. They settled in Queens. I live in Rock Hill in Sullivan Co., NY and and am aware of the Port Jervis Dorer family. I am wondering if any of you know of a connection between your family and mine?

Hello I am Michelle Dorer and live in Oklahoma. I have no information on my Dorer family other than my grandfathers name is Perry Alfred Dorer, his mother's name was Dollie Ingle Dorer. I don't know his fathers name for sure. If anyone has information about any Dorer's from Oklahoma I would love to hear from you.

Seeking information on family of Louis (Alois?) Dorer. b. 1831 Baden, Germany. He immigrated to USA about 1850. He married Abelina (Lena) unknown b. 1836 Germany. Their children were Anna M. b. 1859 OH (married in 1877 to Joseph Hauschild in Rice Co. KS); Louis b. 1868 IN; Albert b. 1870 Saline IL (married Tishey unknown 1893 Red River TX); Sam b. 1874 Rice Co. KS (married Abbie (Harcrow?) 1895 Red River TX and moved to Union Co. Arkansas; Emma b. 1876 KS; Lena b. 1881 KS. Son Louis may have been in Little River, Arkansas 1893-1900. Father Louis was with son Albert in Red River TX about 1895-1900 and may have died there. There were several marriages between Dorer and Phelps families in Red River TX. Any information on family members would be helpful and appreciated.

I'm a Dorer working on the James & Martha Dorer's from Port Jervis, NY(my great-grandparents). I have found they had 7 kids. Elmer, Bertha, Catherine, James Elsworth(my grandfather), Phebe, Norman & Elizabeth. I also have found a newspaper article mentioning beatrice coddington with her cousin Bertha Dorer. Does any of these names look like what your looking for? I had no idea of Joseph and want to figure out where he fits in. I'm positive he is with this family. I'm thinking may be a brother to James.

I just came back to this geneaology thing and did a little more research and showed my mother what you said. She said it looks like your father sounds just like my cousin. Here is what my mother said.

sgdorer: I was up in New Jersey staying with Lottie and Dickie in 1954 from Nov 1st, 1964 until I left from there and came back to Houston Jan. 1st 1965. He was around 7 yrs old then. He was an only child. Which would put him about 6 yrs older than you...

My son and I did the math and it looks like your father is 7 years older than I am. Do you still need information?

Dorer family from Alsace Lorraine Michael Dorer (1852-aft 1920) married Rose Etling. Settled in Irvington Essex Co New Jersey. Sons: Arthur Frederick Dorer (1887-1968), Oscar Henry Dorer(1888-1976), Walter John Dorer (1889-1974) born in Irvington.
Believe Michael's brother was George Dorer 1836-betw 1910-1920. Children of George, Matthias, Julia, George, Frank, and Charles. All in Essex Co NJ.

I know the Dorer family is small and I don't know how everyone is related. I do know that I have a picture of a Matthew Dorer. I believe he was my great great grandfather? Perhaps someone else will know more and can help.

my great grand-father (DORER Jakob) was born in Mietesheim (6.3.1850) He went to the USA to see his uncles, but came back to Mietesheim.
The father of Jakob Dorer was Johann Georg DORER (born 1813)
The father of Johann Georg Dorer was DORER Michaël

Samuel Dorer, 61, living on RFD 6 out of Sterling, with his sister, Mrs. Anna Hauschild, died this moring at a locat hospital. The body was taken to Sterling for burial.

I am researching my grandmother's family. Her maiden name was Elizabeth Dorer. She had a brother James Tillman Dorer(1871-1944). Her parents were Mathias(1832-1901) and Margaret Thompkins Dorer. I know that the family immigrated from Baden-Baden, Germany and settled near Port Jervis, New York. I have a piece of linen that my aunt Agnes told me was made from flax grown on the family farm in New Jersey. Any information about this branch of the Dorer family would be welcomed.

I have just received an obituary for Joseph Dorer. I am told this Joseph Dorer is part of my Dorer family. The obit. states that Joseph Dorer was born August 7, 1904 in Huguenot, New York. He died in Port Jervis at the age of 87 years old. Joseph was the son of Matthew and Mary Coddington Dorer. The information states that Joseph was a retired stationary engineer at the New York training school, Warwick. I am hoping that someone can connect Joseph Dorer with my Mathias or Elizabeth or James Dorer and share some information.

I have a John Dorer (my great Grandfather) in my direct line. I have information back a few generations from him and have visited the family's ancestral home in Mietesheim, Alsace, and met the present day descendants still living there.

Any other information you have I will be glad to share (John Dorer or his wife, Susan Reusch)

Joseph Dorer's great great grandaughter

Yes, Herman does have a brother named August, as well as a father named Joseph. Joseph also had another son named Steve who is my great grandfather. Joseph moved to America from around Baden-Baden(near the Black Forest) in the 1880's. Since then, Steve Dorer had several children and has passed away.
