Wolfgang Dorn was born in 1815 in Nurnberg, Bavaria, Germany to Jacob Dorn and Elizabeth Schubert. As a young man he served for 6 years in the German military and also worked as a shoemaker. In 1848 he immigrated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he worked for 6 months as horseman and handyman to Milwaukee's fist bishop, John Martin Henni. Soon after he moved to Nine Township, Washington County, Wisconsin where he was married to Cunigunda Mousner. In 1853 he moved to New Holstein Township, Calumet County, Wisconsin where he purchased 80 acres of farmland. He died here in 1905 and his wife in 1908. They are buried in St. Ann's Cemetery in St. Anna, Calumet County, Wisconsin.
