Thanks for the added info...Yes, I will continue the search, but afraid it's a dead end for my Andrew since there doesn't appear to be any records anywhere on him earlier than his birth date in NY..and that is based on censuses..The marriage record to Emily is the only other existing record I know of..and her birth in VA is based on census too..
I do wonder if his father or grandfather, or even an ancestor before that was the beginning of my Dorn family here...Without knowledge of who his father was, I can't know where his father was born...
It is "said" that my Andrew's mother was Dutch, but I have no way of verifying that, tho Andrew himself, in pictures of when he was an older man, show him to have been very light skinned with white hair and a full white beard...And some of his descendants, tho mixed with Indian and African ancestry, came up with super milk white skin.. I guess my Andrew's father could have been Dutch as well, rather than his mother...or maybe both were Dutch? Who knows..
My family traveled all over this country too, due to trying to stay away from slavers and land thieves..People who were Free Colored back before 1865 had a rough time...
Ah well..the search continues.. :)
