I would love if you could email me whatever info/pics you may have. I'm in the process of scanning what few family pics our family has of Maria Hermogenes (my great grandmother). She married Solomon Valdez of Ocate and the family resettled in Colorado between 1925-1930. All children of Maria Hermogenes have passed on except her youngest, Delia who lives in Visalia California.
Hi,

I have looked through the picture I have of Napoleon's family. I do have a picture of the children that includes Hermogenes or Rosa as you called her. She is about 4 years old I would guess. I have a list of Napoleon's family with their birthdates etc. I also have information on Louis's family. Louis is Napoleon's father. If you would like me to send them to you, please give me your e-mail address and I will forward them to you. I am not a memeber of Ancestry, but for some reason they have my name and e-mail. Have a great day. Adelle

I would love if I had information on the French Basque relatives but unfortunately my grandfather didn't record the few families he found when on tour during WWll.

It's very sad but he said once his mother (Hermojenes Dorrance)married into his father's (Solomon Valdez) family, no one bothered to learn her language or her familiy's lineage. In fact, she was re named Rosa and was burried as Rosa because no one could pronounce her birthname.

I have your email and as I dig up stuff, I'll forward it to you. I'm also gathering the birth and death dates for my grandfather's parents and siblings which I'll add into the tree. Sooner or later, the families will connect. The info' I've been gathering through what obituaries I can find has been helpful as far as mentioning in-laws and such.

My grandfather was Lawrence Valdez (Lorenzo-Juan), son of Hermogenes and Solomon. The three of them are burried together in the Rocky Ford cemetery. During WWll, my grandfather researched family while in France and was told there his heritage is French Basque.

If I'm able to send you a text message with my contact email, we can exchange information and photo scans.

Hi,

I am very interested in genealogy and have done quite a bit of research on the Dorrance family. I think the name of you are looking for is Hermogenes Dorrance Valdez. She was married to Solomon Valdez. I would really like to visit with you and exchange infomation. My phone number is 801-201-1437. The info that I have on the Dorrance's is that Luis Dorrance was born in France in 1801. I do not know how he landed in New Mexico. The first I can find him is in 1849-1850 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. If you would like to
share information on the family please call me. My name is Adelle Dorrance. Have a great day!

My grandfather's mother's name was one they never had a good spelling of but her sister was Colastica. She "married" Soloman (Solomon) Valdez of Ocate after her father refused to let Soloman take a younger sister who was already promised. We have a picture of a couple who may be Napoleon and his wife. We are told the Dorrances were Basque.

I am a direct descendant and am at a road block. Dorrance was born about 1822, do not know where. He married Barbara Ann Aregood about 1839. They had six children, two born in Philadelphia, two born in Camden, NJ and two born in Freedom, Beaver County, PA. Dorrance is listed on the 1840 census living in Philadelphia; he died in 1893 in Pittsburgh, PA.

Could his mother have had the Dorrance surname and used it to name her son. I am trying to find a connection since Dorrance is not a common name.

Any assistance would be appreciated. Marianne

You are correct, according to the chart I have drawn up by Mary Dorrance Wynne in the 1950's. I am not terribly familiar with that section of the family as I belong to the other branch, so I had to go back and reread the chart. The family tree is done in detail for them on chart I for John, II for George and III for samuel. I am on chart IV. As far as I know they are in the LDS library. I only own chart 4.

My research shows only three Dorrance brothers came to Connecticut from Ireland. The three I show are John, George and Rev. Samuel. John and George brought family with them. Rev. Samuel married Elizabeth Smith in Connecticut. The brothers arrived about 1720. Rev. Samuel settled in Voluntown, CT while the other two moved a little north and settled in what shortly after became part of Rhode Island.

George's brother, John, who settled in the same area, never married. He was born 12 Jul 1733 and died in July 1804.

If you Google the name DORRANCE, then go to the MORE drop-down in the upper left of the screen, you'll see a BOOKS section. Click on that and a list of books with the DORRANCE name in them will be listed. If you want to download PDF versions of the public domain books, you should click on the PUBLIC DOMAIN ONLY link on the left side. Most of them are available in PDF form.

I show Lt. Col. George Dorrance born 4 or 7 Mar 1735 from two sources. I know there were two daughters by his first marriage to Mary Wilson. I have only found one name - Sarah Susannah Dorrance. Haven't found the second daughter's name yet. He had three sons by his second marriage to Elizabeth (maiden name unknown)-Robert, Benjamin & George Gershom.

I have quite a bit about the DORRANCE family starting in Connecticut. Send me an email at kmgenealogy(AT) mac (the usual) com if you are interested.

My name is Sean Campbell from Spokane, WA and I am searching for relatives of my birth father, Pat L. Dorrance.
Thank you for your response. I wish I could add more to your own inquiry. I have nothing at all before Isaac Dorrance, but quite a bit on Mary J Ham's side of the family (which you probably already have, as well). I do appreciate your effort!

Yes, we have just started our search. We found their wedding, Issac and Mary J Ham, in Calhoun County, IL. Viola is the half sister to my grandfather who was born to the second wife.

We found Isaac's burial site on line but not Mary's. We did find her church service record for her death at age 29 years.

I have been looking for Randolph's half brother, George, and half sister, Viola, and his brother Gordon.

Please share any information you have on Isaac's two families.
George Dorrance (b.1/25/1736 in Windham CT and was in the Wilkes-Barre area and died at the Battle of Wyoming 7/3/1778. I am descended from a daughter who moved to N Central PA. I do know that George had a brother who remained in the area and there is quite a bit of infomation about him.
Know for sure that our William Dorrance was born in Bennington County, VT. in 1800 and believe that his father was possibly William born in 1766 in Ct. Does this sound familiar to you?

Look up Christianna Dorrance in the Ancestry World Tree here at ancestry.com. When you go to trees, Ancestry World Tree is on the bottom right side of the page, not One World Tree listed at the top. Although I have more information since this tree was last updated, it should give you a start. I have copy of a letter written by her sister, talking about her death.
my first note had a typo--the first 4 charts contain the 4 brothers who arrived in 1740--so, to the best of my knowledge we all have one of 3 origins
1. the 4 brothers -1740-Voluntown, Connecticut
2. the Canadian section--1840, McKillop township, Ontario
3 the Ohio group-1820 or there abouts

In all my years of Dorrance family research, and all of mary Wynn's meticulous research, there just are no other lines.

I think the LDS library has chart 1 to 4 and i have 5-the canadian and ohio section
