Hi Nick
I have just started researching my family and have found I have a Dorothy Dorrell from Worcestershire in my tree. She married a Roger Burnell at Eastham. Do you think we have any connection?

I know that she died in 1854 in Brighton.

It is her grandaughter, Elizabeth Dorothy Dorrell Burnell who is my Great, Great Grandmother.

I do not have any more information relating to the Dorrell's and was wondering if you could help me out?
Thanks
Lesley

Hello. My name is Barbara and I have in recent months found out that George Dorrell was cousin to my Grandmother, Kate Dorrell, who married Harry Hawken. Their fathers were brothers.
I know about his VC and the Nery story, in fact all the Wikipaedia facts, and will soon visit India and plan to go to Lucknow where he was a young horseman. If you have any info of his time there I would be very grateful.
We plan to attend the 100 year anniversary ceremony in Nery in 2014.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Barbara

I am researching my mother's family and have a brick wall at Thomas J. Information I have suggests he was born about 1795. His son was Thomas Wilkes Dorrell, born in 1821 in Missouri, married to Sally Ann Lee Jan 15, 1843 in Howard MO. I have found other marriages for Dorrells in Howard county MO, but not Thomas J. Dorrell.

Stephen Dorrell sold his land in Putnam County Indiana to William Dorrell when he moved to Missouri so all three are connected....I just don't know how yet.

I knew there had to be at least one other brother besides William but couldn't find John or at least a link to Martin and William. I don't like to add anything to my line without hard proof, there are so many lines messed up with guesswork.

No, my brother Bob Dorrell forwarded info you had sent him. I have been working on this for 45 years and had found no substantiation for the theory of 3 or 4 brothers arriving in MO together. Would like to collaborate with you and see what we can share.

Hello, Have just chanced upon your message. My father - Thomas Arthur, was born at The Lee, near Wendover in 1914, died Tempsford, Bedfordshire, 2001. He had two older brothers, Fred (oldest) and Dave. (also now deceased). Their mother was Lucy. Sorry - don't know their father's christian name, though my sister probably does if you are interested.
I recall Uncle Dave saying that he thought the family originated in France, and I believe had some connections with Chichester, or somewhere on the South East coast of England. I am the last remaining living male member of this particular Dorrell line.

Perhaps the second generation from France is Geoffrey Dorrell, b. 1091 Of Yorkshire, England. He is the eldest Dorrell I've traced. It is believed these Dorrells were from Ariel, France; hence the name d'Ariel or Dorrell in the Anglicised form.

I am researching my husbands family. Richard Dorrell born in Wendover, Buckhinghamshire, England abt 1817 was one of his ancestors. There was a family rumour that this side of the family originated in France. I will be most interested to see if you are ever able to confirm this connection.
