Hey Angela, should have looked at a map before replying, but my branch is from Shrewsbury, Shropshire and then Birmingham and came to the States in 1887. Have had some difficulties, because name is so much more common than I realized + there are so many spelling variations.

My GGF was Edward Dorricott, who had 3 children by his 1st wife (name unknown, but perhaps Rebecca), whom we believe died in 1866 and then 8 more with my GGM, Elizabeth Frances Mainwaring (which also has many variants). I believe his parents may have been Edward & Ann Crowther, but my verbal family history doesn't go back that far.

As here in the States, so many children are named for relatives that you could have 3 cousins with the same name, different middle initial and called 3 different nicknames, so with common 1st & last names I'm just getting started.

If you or anyone has suggestions for me, pass them on.

Much thanks!

Barbara Dorricott
